Pueblo El Mirage Golf Club
About
The golf course at Pueblo El Mirage Golf Club is a challenging championship length course, but it is still suitable for all skill levels of golfer. The course features lush greens and long, rolling fairways. Lakes create water hazards that come into play on eleven holes. There are also strategically placed sand bunkers throughout the course. The signature hole is the par-4 15th hole, which calls for a start with a straight tee shot to a tight fairway and then a precise approach over water to a tiered green. The Pueblo El Mirage facility offers a driving range and putting green as well as a fully stocked pro shop.

Fun round
Got shut out of tee time on our home course. So we took a short road trip. Just came out of overseed. A bit wet in sports but turf was full. Greens were pretty slow but that's to be expected after over seed.
Overall nice course
They had just over seeded so we were expecting the worst but the course was actually in very nice condition. The only negative was how slow the greens were. Other than that we will be playing this course again in the near future.

Signage in neighborhoods
Signage in neighborhoods could be a bit better. Got lost on the way to the 15th I think.
Cart path only expected a long with long grass in the fairways. But the grass in the rough way to long causing slow play as people search for balls.

Be Prepared…
I’m never going to completely rip a course in a review. I’ll start with the good: the parking lot, general aesthetics, and facilities look SIGNIFICANTLY better than 2 years ago. They’ve worked on all of this very well! The price to play is solid, given the course conditions and range limitations.
The bad: pace of play is horrendous. I played today (Sat. Oct. 14) and I knew what I was getting into, but I didn’t expect the front-9 to take over 2 hr. & 45 mins… probably the slowest 9 I’ve ever been a part of. I played with a beginner and a couple of 20+ handicappers who were great guys. I have a lot of patience for novice golfers, but if it’s taken 5+ shots to get to most greens, u need to pick up and play faster. We were still waiting on every tee box so it didn’t really ultimately matter.
I KNOW it’s October in Arizona and a lot of courses are closed, so beggers can’t be choosers, but 8-minutes between tee times doesn’t help. However, I don’t think 10-minutes would’ve made a difference. If you choose to play here, just be prepared: the range is short. You can’t hit driver. It’s going to be slow, and the majority golfers are going to be beginners or struggling golfers- and they deserve to play! But just be prepared. The rough was also extremely high, so we were constantly looking for balls and you couldn’t find a ball until you were directly above it. The greens were also THE slowest greens I’ve ever putted on in all my years of golf. This is a result of the recent overseed, but I thought they could cut them shorter. The tee boxes and fairways were also basically rough. You also have to be aware of all the parallel fairways and incoming golf balls from all sides.
Unfortunately, there was more bad than good to review today, but overall it’s a fun course and once other courses open and PEM can cut the grass, it will be better.

El Mirage
Tees and fairways are lacking grass and what there is is very thin , the rough is not good. There are spots that are mushy and muddy. The greens are like putting on shag carpeting.My advice is stay away until after overseeding..

Reminded why I stopped playing here...
No cart person selling drinks. They'd make a killing on these over 100 degree days. The kitchen/bar was closed and you can only get soft drinks from where you pay to play. All of the doors were locked except for the cashier.
We lost so many balls. Not in the hazards or out of bounds, but in the course itself. The rough is literally that....rough. The grass out if the fairway was so high, that we could not find several balls each and ended up just taking drops. The foursome behind us had the same problem. This reminded us of why we stopped playing there a couple of years ago.
