Eagle Mountain Golf Club
About
Designed by Scott Miller, this course is located in the southeastern foothills of the McDowell Mountains and is an innovative departure from the “target” style courses constructed in the desert in the recent past. Its layout takes advantage of a variety of land features: rolling hills, ridgelines, lush valley and washes, with a backdrop of prominent mountain outcroppings. In many instances, long extended views into untouched desert landscapes and area landmarks, such as Camelback Mountain, will be afforded. It is a strategic design, which asks the player to make choices relative to skill level.

Great day at Eagle Mountain! Photo submitted by uOQDZ5699OQ on 09/26/2012
The course has elevation changes
The course was in good shape . We played in just over four hours
Not Again
We had not played this course in several years. After playing, we remembered why....
The pace of play of terrible. The other cart finally said something to a marshal, but did not solve the issue.
The course was built around a housing development; thus not walkable. Your are walking down and up some very steep slopes to the green.
Great course
Fun course to play. Cool design with plenty to offer and a good challenge. Greens were in fantastic shape. We were the first group off and finished in 3:45. Will definitely go back.
scenic and challenging
We found this course to be fun, challenging, and incredibly beautiful. Each hole was interesting and different and the primarily downhill holes with sides sloping to the center of the fairway made it forgiving and fun for the less skilled players in our party. Having three par 3 holes on the front nine slowed the pace as they caused backups..
Beautiful course...hope to play again.
This is a beautiful course, but starting at 2:15, in late February you'll be finishing in the dark, if you get to finish. Wondered after the pace slowed to a crawl if we should have just signed up for 9
Fairways
There were areas of the fairway on multiple holes that were in very poor shape. For the green fee, I liked the course but for the green fee charged (relative to other courses in the region) I expected much better playing conditions.
Overall review
Overall I had a great time playing this course. I played at the Twilight rate which made the cost to play the course worth the money. There are several areas on the course that have tire tracks, it looks like from the mowers. The sand traps are a little hard which added to the difficulty. The course itself was average in my opinion. However the staff far exceeds your expectations. And some of the views are really beautiful. I would recommend this course for a nice day of golf which you plan to relax.
Good Course
Overall the course was good. Terrific scenery, friendly staff, some challenging holes mixed and a great facility. The fairways were in a little bit of ruff shape compared to other courses we played but fun all the same.
Great layout, still spotty
This course offers a great layout and great views of the valley. Fun elevation changes, long holes into the wind, good mix of challenging holes with fun risk/reward holes. The only issue was there were a few less than optimal fairways (water collection and drainage issues?) and the green on 15 (par 3) was not in good condition. Overall though, the course is a good value and I look forward to playing it next time in the valley.
Great course, Slow Play
Beautiful mountain course, great layout but lots of waiting especially on the par 3's and par 5's.
I love this course!
I love playing here every time! Great staff, awesome views and the overseed went great this year.
Great views. Vista and Mountains. Serene
Next time I come back in March 14 I will play here again!!!
Attention, here you pay for the beautiful view!
The course is scenically very great location, but unfortunately in a terrible state. The fairway is very long and totally wet. The tee boxes were also far from being mowed. The price is much too high for the quality. One must obviously pay for the location. Then I go prefer to walk free.
Nice clubhouse and practice facility. Bad Condition for full price
Having played other courses that finished their over seeding around the same time.Found them to be in much better condition. To charge full price of $141 and Playing in over 5Hrs, having slow punched greens, soaking fairways and no carts allowed was as close to gouging as it gets. Wet Conditions at other courses resulted in a reduction and those courses were in great shape. Having Phoned the course prior to going there, and was told the greens were rolling great and in perfect shape, was really dissappointed in the reality.
Beyond Dissapointed
In PHX for business 2 days. Call course. Hey how is it? Great! Overseed was done 1 month ago...fairways are great...greens are running at a 9. Question: If we tee off at 2 will we get round in? No problem -- we move it pretty fast around here.
Wow. Nothing could be further from the truth. $85 bucks for hairy/spotty fairways....beyond hairy greens...and the pace was BRUTAL.
Be honest club...be honest. I would not play here again. Ever.
Loved it!
Excellent design , with the best views in the Phoenix area. Staff was super and the restaraunt has some very good choices.
Very enjoyable day.
Not in good shape
Would like to try this course again at a different time of year, but not in good shape at all right now. Lots of brown grass, grass clippings left in rough etc. Carts not allowed on fairway, so expect lots of walking, since course is not flat. Scenery was beautiful though.
tired
car path only takes the play out of the game shots have to be made to the car path or you will come out breathless
rathe pull a cart than to ride it
Fantastic vistas, very slow greens.
The views from this course are magnificent but due to the recent overseeding the greens were EXTREMELY slow. Fortunately we played the last day of $65 green fees with the rates doubling the next day! It was definitely worth the lower rate but would have had much more difficulty swallowing the hairy greens at $130! I would like to go back in a month or so when the greens are mowed shorter.
