Desert Canyon Golf Club
About
Nestled within Fountain Hills, the course at the Desert Canyon Golf Club offers a championship course with a variety of elevation changes with views canyon and mountain views. It is a desert-style course with some elevated tees and open fairways that play tight with a few doglegs. Water bunkers come into play on a few holes as well as numerous well-positioned sand bunkers. From nearly every hole on the golf course, views of the signature fountain in Fountain Hills, which is the world's tallest fountain at 550 feet, can be seen.

Fun and fabulous scenic views
Course in great condition! Fun to play and fantastic views. Many elevation changes making for interesting play! Highly recommend!
Beautiful
The course was beautiful and in wonderful condition. We enjoyed our round of golf
Can't go wrong with Desert Canyon
Possibly the best value course in Fountain Hills. A fun layout with great views, friendly staff, GPS-equipped carts, good service... even the golf shop had good choice swag at affordable prices.
We were advised when we started that the course was full, and were paired with 2 gentlemen as a foursome; yet the pace was very reasonable at 4:10 for the full round, so good job of managing players right there!
The teeboxes were recently reorganized into 4 sets plus combo options, providing proper yardage for all players.
A few small negatives:
-The course is close to the main streets of Fountain Hills so you do hear traffic noise on several holes.
-Some fairways are tight and houses come into play a few times.
-The cart path routing is showing its age and would benefit from a do-over; on one hole it is set up in the middle of the fairway.
None of those should prevent anyone from having a good time at a fair price, which Desert Canyon excels at!
Very Nice Course
Short tight course that is in great shape. I played with my Son and his friend. Second group out in the morning. Played in just over three hours. Had a lot of fun. Course has a lot of elevation changes. Pro Shop was great. Lunch was very good also. I look forward to playing this course again on my next visit to Arizona.
Enjoyable Round
Fairways and greens in good shape. Tees needed to be cut just a bit. Lots of undulating fairways and uneven lies to add to the challenges of the elevation changes. Great views all around!!
A must play......
If your in the area, play this course. Great layout and good challenge for all skill levels based on the tees you choose.
Beautiful scenery, fantastic neighborhood, very nice club house, friendly/helpful staff and as a bonus.... great food in the restaurant. Highly recommend this course!
Slimy
So I ask to cancel my reservation 5 days in advance because PHOENIX is supposed to have severe thunderstorms Thursday and Friday and they will not refund the money unless the course closes. Anyone else sick of this type of customer service . I had booked 20 plus rounds this year and this is the support they show. Very sad. Well they are many other sites to use.
Good first impression
After galactic rains course was wet and on path. As so, it was quite open after noontime and I was able to zip around in under 3 hours. Beautiful views, receptive open fairways and very playable. Greens rolled well. Driving range nice with balls, although off mats and not sure if that was rain related or normal. Check Iin very nice and accommodating. Head pro the nicest you'll find! Also looks like nice setting for restaurant with views. Would return, would reccomend.
Nice course
We enjoyed playing this course
Good layout and views
Nice carts
Rain shortened
Course was in great shape with tricky greens.. When I say course I mean the front 9 as we stopped because of rain and lightning and joined the “rain check” line in the pro shop.
Desert Canyon re-visited
We had not played at Desert Canyon for about a year now, so thought it was time to go back. We are glad that we did. The course is in excellent condition. Numerous small improvements have been made, such as new signage and new range balls. Greens in good shape and medium fast.
A great experience overall.
Late October afternoon golf
Great views, course well groomed with receptive greens. Able to use most every club in the bag. Info says GPS available through app but when we checked in it was in the cart which was a bonus. Tuesday’s at 130 pm they shut the driving range down for pick up and mowing. They did allow us out for a few balls, literally a few. Tiny bucket of balls for warm up. Was told there would be a cart girl out, didn’t see one all round and the one at the turn was cash only and closed early. Bonus, lots of water along course and washrooms. Mark the Marshall was very friendly and had a great chat with him.
We like to golf alone and mid afternoon timing was perfect. Nobody rushing you and pace of play was nice.
Restaurant after round- happy hour was nice with some sub par food. Mains were not good. Ordered French onion soup and think they must have spilled the whole salt container in there but our waitress, 4th day on the job from Minnesota(didn’t get her name) made up for it!
Great views, good value and very well maintained
I have lived on the course for 11 years and have golfed this course many times. D.C. has continued to upgrade the course year after year. The greens are true and roll perfectly. There are many course in the valley but I think this one fits a golfer in the +10 and above handicap.
Great Recovery From Overseeding
Have always loved this Fountain Hills course but, like all of them in that area, it does tend to get pricey. That being said, they are certainly not skimping on maintenance. We played it just ten days out of over-seeding and from tee boxes to fairways, bunkers and greens, the course was in great shape. Even with an 1130 tee time and a slow group or two in front of us, the new grass on the greens was not bumpy and you owned all the missed putts. Two minor quibbles: no beverage cart in late October was a little strange and the GPS would not show you the actual position of the pin on the always tricky Desert Canyon greens making it difficult to trust the yardage--cost me only one bogey but left me with several long putts. Staff were extremely friendly though new starter had no idea on cart restrictions so told us to just use our judgment--we employed 90 degree rule to minimize our footprint. A solid value at a time of year that can be tricky.
Best Bargin in East Phoenix
Course was in great shape, greens were slow because of overseeding..Always fun to play except #18!
