Desert Canyon Golf Club
About
Nestled within Fountain Hills, the course at the Desert Canyon Golf Club offers a championship course with a variety of elevation changes with views canyon and mountain views. It is a desert-style course with some elevated tees and open fairways that play tight with a few doglegs. Water bunkers come into play on a few holes as well as numerous well-positioned sand bunkers. From nearly every hole on the golf course, views of the signature fountain in Fountain Hills, which is the world's tallest fountain at 550 feet, can be seen.

Great course
Amazing layout, the rough was a little bare, but otherwise the course is in great shape.
Fun track but in mediocre condition.
Challenging fun little track. Nice views. Not in the best condition for the price. Plenty of course in the valley that are cheaper and in better shape. Paid $45.
Canyon Play
I have reviewed this course previously. The entire course winds through a picturesque canyon, creating some very calculated play. Either the tee box will be elevated or the green will be elevated, and assessing what club adjustment is needed becomes one of the bigger challenges. The result is a lot of fun golf.
Dirt Track
This course was complete garbage. Tee box’s are all dirt, fairways have small patches of grass & the greens were dirt. Wouldn’t play here again even if round was free.
What more do you need?
Challenging course in great shape with beautiful views. Good location, friendly staff and played the round in 3.5 hours. Looking forward to playing again.
Outstanding views
A gem no one talks about. This course is very nice with spectacular views. Fairways a little beat up but just on the edges. This time of the year in Arizona that is expected. Great course will definitely play it again
Great course
Great staff and course was in great shape for the arizona summer.
For this time of year I thought the course was in good shape with exception of the tees that need some TLC.
Great track
I’ve played this track twice, both in the summer and a year apart. Excellent condition for August, greens are nice and fairways are good too. Just a really fun track and different than most in Phoenix. Lots of elevation change and elevated greens/tee boxes. Great views of surrounding mountains as you dip in and out of canyons. I need to make a point to play here more often.
Shaggy greens and all this is a gem.
Best course for the money. The course is recovering from getting punched. But the staff is awesome. And it is a fun course to play. Found where I will be spending the rest of the summer.
Nice but....
This course is nice. However, three s were dreadful. They’ll be good and probably were not long ago. However, there was a LOT of sand on them. Even several large clumps of sand. We just adopted the two putt policy....everyone two-putted everything. Otherwise, it was a great course, good fairways and tee boxes. Driving range was mats only, also. Hate that. Still, for the price, it was a fair value.
Very Scenic Course
I drove from Florence Arizona to this course and after playing this course it was worth the hour and sixteen minutes drive. We took pictures because the backdrop of the mountains and the course being in the valley of the mountains was spectacular. Staff was friendly, golf course was in supreme conditions. Will definitely play it again before the price to play goes up extremely.
Good value and wonderful views
We played on a Saturday morning and were a bit surprised that there was no starter to ensure groups were teeing off at their scheduled tee time. We were a foursome stuck behind a slow playing foursome and the ranger stopped by several times letting us know he was doing everything he could to pick up the pace of play as the group ahead of us was 2 holes behind pace of play. We appreciated his efforts and enjoyed the round. Very disappointed that the cart woman stopped her services at 10am, especially when playing in 100 degree weather, we were thirsty! Good course and well worth the value.
Great Course Layout
I love the layout of this course. The entire course winds its way through canyon terrain, requiring shots from elevated tees or up to elevated greens. Club selection is always at a premium as you try to adjust to the different approaches required on each hole. Some approach shots require you to 'club up' as much as two clubs to reach your target. On this round, the course was not in its best shape. There were two holes (6 & 7) that were seemingly under repair and a number of places otherwise that were in stress. The greens had also been recently sanded and aerated, so putting was a bit of an additional challenge. I still recommend this course, but maybe give it a couple weeks to let some of the repairs resolve.
I say stay away during the Summer. Course condition for early July pretty poor even for desert standards. Pretty short but layout makes somewhat challenging.
