Desert Canyon Golf Club
About
Nestled within Fountain Hills, the course at the Desert Canyon Golf Club offers a championship course with a variety of elevation changes with views canyon and mountain views. It is a desert-style course with some elevated tees and open fairways that play tight with a few doglegs. Water bunkers come into play on a few holes as well as numerous well-positioned sand bunkers. From nearly every hole on the golf course, views of the signature fountain in Fountain Hills, which is the world's tallest fountain at 550 feet, can be seen.

Great course in the desert
This is probably our favorite course in the valley. It is beautifully landscaped and provides great variety in the types of holes. As a senior I still felt that I had a reasonable chance of making par even though I played the black tees which are the middle of the five tee boxes. They have frequent drinking water containers on the course as well as cups of ice and water at the pro shop and a frequent cart person if that is not sufficient. Also a snack bar at the turn. All in all a fun course to play!
Really fun
Carts have gps which came in very handy as it not only provided distance but tips as to where to place tee shots and others. Lots of variety and elevation changes. Par fours were shorter than some which allowed for good scoring. Very helpful starter and employees in general. Would play again at my first opportunity.
Course was really good shape my only issue was cart would not work on the ninth hall par five and I am old so that was not pleasant they said because of satellite but still should not happen delayed play about 5 minutes
Good start to the trip
We booked our annual 12 person golf trip through Golf Zoo and this was the first course we played on our Trip on a Sunday afternoon. Weather was great and the course conditions were good. You need to play a couple of times to get a good feel for the course as the elevation changes and hole design challenge you the first time. It is a short course so long hitters have to put driver away from the middle tees and several holes. They can pull it out from the back tees but you have to be precise. It's a shot-makers course and precision is required off the tee. The views are great in spite of the homes around the course and it was a good way to start the trip. Nothing spectacular, not terrible by any means. Nice clubhouse and the limited driving range was the only real negative.
One of my Favs
Always a fun time.
Course in fine shape.
Good (Canadian) company .
Keep up the good work.

I enjoy this course. Great value, friendly staff, well maintained, nice scenery
Nice course
Enjoyed the round, good layout. A little shorter course than I usually play. Sand traps require more sand, nearly impossible tp get under the ball.
You will have to think
The course offers so much value for the money that it's worth the drive wherever that you are in the valley. You will have to be coutious off the green and not take too much club on #3, #4, #7. Those are all irons off the tee par 4s, # 4 tho is a par 5, very reachable but can't hit more than 230 unless you have a perfect draw that you can trust. Par 5s are reachable in 2 (except for #14 where you absolutely have to lay up). Number 10'and 11 will put you in great shape if you hit a 220 shot off the tee, can't do more. It's such a challenging and beautiful course with magestic views. Staff are great, rangers friendly and the new head pro Kurt seems like a great guy. Signature hole par 3 16 plays close to its distance so don't be deceived by the severe drop. Go out there and play it as I'm getting pretty boring. Great course! Cheers!
First Timer, not Last Timer
Wanted a change from some of the central Scottsdale courses, so found a reasonable deal thru GolfNow ($90, mid march, peak season), and gave it a go. Facilities are great, Staff was very friendly and helpful directing us around the course. They included a small bucket if balls on their "irons only" range, which helped work out the stiffness. We were out early (7:15), and played as a twosome. Caught up to a foursome on 3, and they promptly waved us through. Not expected, but a huge thank you! Course was on the short side. We played the 2nd longest tees (Blue) at about 6200 since it was our first time, and I am a high handicapper. Knocked out the front 9 in 1:15, and finished 18 in about 2:45. Sounds like this is not the norm, as it got very busy later in the am. Ranger says they pushed through over 250 the day before. As other reviewers said, the greens are very fast, so stay below the hole. Lots of 2 and 3 putts on the back 9, since we were usually aiming for, and lucky enough to hit, the center of the green. Scores reflected the challenging greens, but we still had a great time. Fairways are tight, but forgiving enough to not frustrate even a duffer like me. Very scenic course with mountain views on almost every hole. 16 is a treat! We will definitely put this course on our list to play next time we are in the area.
Very Nice Place
This is a course with relief. It meanders through hilly terrain with homes near but not really noticeable. The fountain is occasionally visible. The range was irons only but an ample number of range balls are included. The bag drop works well and starter was very nice. The course was in very good shape. It’s not long but shot placement is required. We played in about 4.5 hours in a Sunday afternoon which was fine with us. The views from the course are spectacular, much better than the valley courses.
IN GREAT SHAPE! PLAY IT!!
Best shape course in Fountain Hills at the moment. A lot of elevation change, greens are a little fast, but they are true and in great shape. Course was not dried out, dead... etc. Best value in the PHX area so far this year. No doubt about it.
Elevation changes make for interesting golf
Desert Canyon has many significant elevation changes throughout the course that will challenge your club selections. This is the third time we've played it and having some local knowledge is a big help. The overall layout is just great.
Off course you can only hit irons on the practice range, which is a negative; offset by a beautiful bar and grill that was totally redone after a wind storm tore the roof off last year.
Have to give props to the course ranger - we were getting backed up as we got to the 8th - 9th hole and he came by and said he would do something about it and he did. By the 11th hole we were hitting away and moving very quickly.
Knowledge
Great course just need to know the course to the shots. The restaurant make a good Bloody Mary and good food
A really fun day...
This course has mountain views that have to be some of the best in all of AZ.
The foothills this course is built on make each hole unique and challenging in its own way.
We would come back here once a week if it were closer.
An interesting course
Interesting in that the holes were not all the same, elevation changes, and a bit of scenery. Greens were large, fast and highly sloped. Do not be above the hole.
No complaints.
Expensive rental clubs
Golf was good, but got charged $65 for clubs for nine holes
Too much
