Desert Canyon Golf Club
About
Nestled within Fountain Hills, the course at the Desert Canyon Golf Club offers a championship course with a variety of elevation changes with views canyon and mountain views. It is a desert-style course with some elevated tees and open fairways that play tight with a few doglegs. Water bunkers come into play on a few holes as well as numerous well-positioned sand bunkers. From nearly every hole on the golf course, views of the signature fountain in Fountain Hills, which is the world's tallest fountain at 550 feet, can be seen.

Desert Canyon
Overall a very nice course. The greens were very fast and rolled pretty true. Course was in good condition and pace of play was good for how busy the course was. All staff encountered were extremely friendly and we saw the beverage cart three times on each 9 holes. The course winds through a residential community but the houses are not right on top of the fairways and seemed a lot less intrusive then other courses. Wonderful views of the surrounding mountains. Many of the greens are raised and the course plays longer then the yardage with a lot of holes playing uphill. Value was average but that has more to do with high season for tee times. I would definitely play this course again in the future.
Desert Canyon
Despite less than ideal weather conditions, this course held up. A great place to practise your shots and set up for more challenging courses during your stay. Would highly recommend the course and look forward to returning on our next visit.
Great Old School Course
Great staff, very good value, excellent condition from tee to green. Lots of elevation change, good test of golf.
Best course of the trip
We played 6 courses over our trip and this was our favorite. The course layout was great with just enough challenge to keep it interesting. Well maintained and staffed. Would highly recommend it.
beats the winter in Canada
First time had a great round with the reverend and his friend. Couple of real gentlmen.
Desert Canyon
Great views, lots of hole variety and elevation change yet very fair. Head Pro Jason was very friendly and gracious! One of the best values for your dollar.
Course is very hilly
Course was in great shape, greens were somewhat slow. Course is very hilly, but fun to place. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Desert canyon
The course is well laid out,it has some challenging holes,17&18.the green were really good, the staff are some of the more cheerful than most courses.it is also nice to come back to play
Challenging course with breathtaking views
Pristine course in the middle of the mountains with many elevation changes! Many elevated tee shots which may make the heart skip a beat or two. Course was challenging for me as tee shots are critical. Pro shop was great as was the hotdog stand at #10. Holes #1 and #16 will always be in my mind!
I recommend taking the drive to Fountain Hills, we drove from Scottsdale and it was a breeze. We flew in as a threesome from Chicago and have never seen a course like this by us. I strongly recommend for anyone looking for a challenging course in a very peaceful surrounding paired with amazing tee boxes and views! Challenging for sure, but that's why I play!
Go down to All American Bar after the round and watch the fountain, on the hour every hour for you out-of-towners like me!
You have other choices
My wife and I decided that we would try this course despite the fact that it was over 45 miles from our home in the east Valley, and then again it was my birthday and we wanted to visit Fort McDowell afterwards. Overall the course is fairly good with the back nine a lot better than the front, the greens rolled well and the scenery was excellent, some of the homeowners are not too happy with errant golf balls, so why buy on a golf course? Having said that we had a 1252 tee time and arrived at 1225 only be to told that we were next on the tee box, not a lot of time for practicing, when we arrived at the tee we were paired up with Jim and Jimmy, the latter being a 7 , yes a seven year old, what was the proshop thinking? For the next 14 holes of absolute misery with this father/son team continuously talking, the son actually pacing his every putt and if I ever hear the name "Jimmy" again it will be too soon. We did keep up with the foursome in front of us despite the 10 plus hits/putts on each hole but the precocious 7 year old just kept talking, even though he thought he was out of ear shot of my naturally gifted exceptional hearing wife. My thoughts, after the fact, was to go back to the proshop and get a different tee time, but with the late afternoon sun it might have been difficult to finish the 18 holes, should have done that and avoided the headache.
I'm all for junior golf, in fact my club back in Calgary, Bearspaw CC has one of the best junior programs in the City, but why should full fee paying golfers have to play, on prime time, in the weekend with a 7 year old?
We have lots of choices in the Valley and this will not be one of them, especially if that is the way they deal with their guests.
Pretty Desert Course
This is one of our favorite courses in the Phoenix. It is well kept, great views and good staff
A good day
Enjoyable round of golf. My rife and I were paired with another couple. Good pace of play. Course is in good shape . Some greens a little bumpy. Good value. Have played there here a number if times.
So so
I like the layout but the course was mot in great shape. Greens were thin and fairways were not lush. Maybe weather or something but disappointing for $85.
Customer service
Pro shop was really defensive about me getting a free hot deal round in, lady was not pleasant and rather defensive even after I showed the golfnow confirmation email. Manager came in and sorted things out. Course was not kept in good condition, for them to charge $85 a regular round and for the condition the course was in, is just not worth the time, drive and money.
great course
Greens could have used some water, beautiful course a lot of fun to play.
Narrow fairways, fast greens
The course was in very good condition and the greens were very fast but rolled perfectly. The weather was excellent.
Scenic well maintained course
Desert Canyon has fantastic views on nearly every hole. We started from white tees but switched to blue tees after two holes. The length of par fours is extremely generous even for amateur golfers. great course definite on the list for a Phoenix vacation. Great value for money
staff
Always a friendly staff and course is great. Fun place
Worth playing!
A good mix of target golf and holes that you can hit the big stick on. The course was in pretty good shape and my wife and I both enjoyed the variety of holes and scenery throughout this layout. I would definitely recommend this course.
Desert Canyon
Course was just finishing overseeding process but overall it was in very good condition. The fairways were a little spongy from the process. The staff was all very friendly and helpful. There was even someone waiting at a hole that faced the sun coming up to help spot your ball. We were paired up with a very friendly twosome that made the whole round very enjoyable. A lot of fun and a good value for the money.

I'm very sorry that you had a bad experience at Desert Canyon Golf Club. We don't ask our customers if they have juniors or how old everyone is. We had a completely full sheet and couldn't move anyone around unfortunately. . I went back to my starter sheet to make sure we didn't tee you off earlier than your tee time and it was 12:53 because of the full sheet of golfers. We want to make sure everyone has a great experience.
