Kokopelli Golf Course
About
Located a short distance from Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix and Arizona State University, Kokopelli Golf Course is a championship length course that offers many interesting challenges. The rolling terrain creates sloping greens and undulating fairways. A majority of the teeboxes and greens are elevated as well. The course also has large multiple island tees and water hazards in the form of meandering lakes that come into play on several holes. The signature hole of Kokopelli Golf Course is the par-5 18th hole. The dramatic finishing hole calls for a shot off an elevated too followed by an approach shot past water to an elevated green.

Needs more grass
There were so many bare spots on the fairways it was almost unplayable. The course was also heavily watered so all the bare spots were muddy. This course is not worth playing at any price.

Poorly maintained course
This is not my first time at this course. I used to play it quite often but that was a couple of years ago. This time the course was in horrible shape. Mud and dirt everywhere. They started watering the 17th hole while I was on it, which makes it a bit difficult to play. I won't be back and thats unfortunate because it used to be my favorite place in Mesa.

Wet
We played the back 9 and we put our bags in the golf bag stand to check in and we when we came out the sprinklers were on the 18th hole and got our golf bags wet. We get to the 14th hole and we had to wait for the the ground crew to finish cutting the lawn on the green and around it, they have new golf carts but not for beer cart girl, so we had to wait until we got back the club house . The food is good there.

They should close down the course
I don’t mean to be hateful but they really should consider closing the course down until they can get it to at least a playable condition. 0/10 wouldn’t go golf there for $15. The audacity for them to charge $60. Ha.

Combat Golf
Okay so here are the pros and cons of Kokopelli Golf Course.
This course needs repairs on the fairways and the cart path. Our first impression of hole one was it looked like a battlefield; my golf partner said, "It looks like a bomb hit" I tend to agree with this quote. The cart path reminded me of when I was a kid, and we used to jump our bikes off of ramps; that is what the cart path is in this course. The condition of the fairways is hit and miss on good housekeeping, and there are broken sprinklers everywhere. Which leaves us with mud holes in areas there should not be. The greens are okay, as they have tried to refurbish them.
The pace was whatever the plays wanted it to be as there was no Marshal on the course leaving players to bog down on the back 9 of the course. Water was provided if you could find a jug with cold water and no food or drink on the course unless you order it which we did not.

Legit dog track
Course was in terrible condition. Fairways were 90% dirt. No starter or ranger. Greens were long and had a ton of dry patches. Tee boxes were decent for the most part. Would rather burn the cash I used to play than play here again. I wouldn’t play here if they payed me to….

I have played this course a lot of times. This is the worst I have ever seen it. Will not play there again.

Mediocre
No beverage cart service on a busy day with triple digit temperatures. Rate of play was rough. 18 took 5 hours, constantly waiting on groups ahead.

Save your money
This facility gets 1 star based on the staff who are friendly and helpful as far as the course itself I would have to say that it is the worst conditioned course I have ever played. The fact that they charge $60+ on a Sunday that is in the middle of the summer is laughable. The staff are embarrassed and state that they get that alot. If I could have quit after the 2nd hole and asked for a refund I would have but we were there with a group of 24 playing for $$$. Needless to say we ALL agreed we are never going back and to remind each other why, horrendous conditions...no grass in the fairways or rough bunkers are almost unplayable and the greens were just plain bad. It is an embarrassment for this facility to represent the Town of Gilbert. They should just give up trying to be a golf course and let some goats roam the grounds at least it would have a purpose then.

Fun in the sun
Summer golf in Mesa is hot. But, this course is still fun. Fairways still have grass, the greens rolled well. And there is plenty of fun for the money. And, I was the only person out I. The afternoon. I played as fast as I wanted. Great bang for your buck here.

This course did not seem kept up very well.
Grass throughout the course was very patchy and there were a lot of bare or dirt spots. Also the water hazards were dirty and not well maintained. Did not feel that course was in a condition that matched the cost of the round.
