About
Located a short distance from Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix and Arizona State University, Kokopelli Golf Course is a championship length course that offers many interesting challenges. The rolling terrain creates sloping greens and undulating fairways. A majority of the teeboxes and greens are elevated as well. The course also has large multiple island tees and water hazards in the form of meandering lakes that come into play on several holes. The signature hole of Kokopelli Golf Course is the par-5 18th hole. The dramatic finishing hole calls for a shot off an elevated too followed by an approach shot past water to an elevated green.

Golfer Reviews
slow pace of play
been playing this course 25 years and the pace of play has gotten worse and worse. Granted there are golfers who do not understand golf etiquette and drink to much but the rangers should educate and move people along. Group in front of us would not tee off until the group ahead of them was off the greet, and that is par4s and5s and they were terrible. Playing from the tips and balls barely going 175.
I wish I could give it a better rating.
Trenches were in terrible condition. Only saw a few with actual sand in them and not hard rock dirt. Greens were the only thing that were in great condition. Fairways were okay, the roughs weren’t even grass in a lot of places, and just dirt. I’m shocked at the course condition because I feel like it has a big name to live up to, but even the driving range was painful to look at. I really wish I could’ve enjoyed the round of golf more, but it was hard to enjoy it when almost everything was in poor conditions for it only being March. Whoever is in charge of the greens should either get a raise or run the whole course because the greens were impressive compared to the rest of the course.
Very poor conditions
Will never return to this course again. There was no communication that the score card was opposite to where you start.
Poor condition - go somewhere else
Course is in rough shape
It appears it might have been many years ago, but for some reason they let it go. Tee boxes and greens are not to bad, but most of the fairways are horrible, such a lack of grass and water.
Forget the sand traps, just take a free drop out of them and play on.
It really is a shame when courses get this bad.
Dirt in fairway
I played this course after overseed in October. It appears they have let the course go to seed since then.
Has potential but needs a lot of course work
The course layout is nice but they need some maintaining to be done. Greens and tee boxes need work too.
Needs attention
Lots of water setting creating mud throughout the course, obvious runoff from sprinkling as no rain in recent past. Weeds are out of control. Sand traps are plentiful and extensive but really no sand in most of the traps. Weeds and or crusty dirt/sand. Should eliminate some of the sand traps by properly filling in and planting grass then could maybe maintain/upkeep the remaining ones much better.
Susan
This course is in very poor condition, long thick grass, very dry and sand traps were like hard clay and no rakes. This course is challenging and long.
Golf carts weee old and both carts we had needed new brakes, peddle to the floor and still could not stop unless you had 100 feet plus in front of you. Could be a beautiful golf course but needs lots of TLC! I won’t be returning any time soon!
Will not play again
My daughter is getting married this weekend and I had family in town from out-of-state. This was one of the few places that I could get a teatime and host my family. I have golfed here before and enjoyed it but it was quite some time ago. Had I known the conditions were going to be as bad as they were, hard pan ground that I was afraid to break my clubs trying to hit on just off of the fairways, no sand in the bunkers and filled with weeds, and just a not very pleasant experience at all and quite frankly was embarrassed bring in my family there. Arizona is known for its great golf and this was a horrible experience for my family and myself. For that type of rates and to charge winter rates for a horribly maintained course is awful.
Wouldn't refund for one player that had an emergency
I made a tee time for three through golf now. When I got to the course I told them That I had just received a call that one player could show because of an emergency. They told me I had to contatc GolfNow. I did and GolfNow called Kokopelli and Kokopelli said they couldn't refund the greens fee because they had marked it as a no show. So I blame Kokopelli!
Not worth the money or time
One of the absolute worse condition and managed courses. Should have know better when I saw Arcis golf Manages the property. Was supposed to tee off at 1204, not enough carts so had to wait. But instead of utilizing the carts for the later tee times, after us, we just kept getting passed over. Finally at 1230 I went into the pro shop as the starter was oblivious, the guy at the pro shop counter states “ you were supposed to tee off at 1204” no kidding! But we couldnt because we didnt have a cart. Carts finally came, extremely dirty, beat up and in poor condition. The course was absolutely the worse condition I have ever seen a course. No sand in any of the bunkers but plenty of dried up dirt, mud, old grass clippings and weeds. Pace of play - terrible. Took over 5 hrs and we had to leave on hole 15 due to dinner plans and the fact we teed off 30 minutes late. GolfNow should pull this course off of their website. When I explained my frustration to the staff, I was given a coupon for a free hot dog/ brat! Dont waste your money or time!!!!!
Mediocre at Best
The course was not in the best of shape. Staff was friendly. Could use a picture of the hole layout. on the scorecard. Too many bare spots. Cart girl and snack bar girl were great! Fun course one time, but I don’t need to play it again.
