Wigwam Resort - Red Course
About
The Red Course (formerly known as Heritage Course) at the Wigwam Resort, which has received acclaim from Golf Magazine, is one of three 18-hole courses at the resort. Built on rolling terrain, the course features elevation changes that can affect shots. Mature trees are also scattered throughout to add beauty and another challenging element. Winding creeks form water hazards that come into play on a few holes. The Red Course is popular among locals familiar with the Wigwam Resort because it is considered to have the three best finishing holes in the area. Although walking is allowed on the other two courses, carts are required on the Red Course.

Wigwam Red Course
The staff were etremely friendly. Although the half way house on the red course was closed mid afternoon on the day I played. I was paired with a retired air firce gentleman and his grandsons. They were amazing friendly people that were helpful in playing this course. I would definitely play this course again when in Phoenix. Excellent value for the money.
Average Course
Fairways wet and muddy in many spots. Greens pretty good but slow. Had frost delay that was not handled well by staff. Was told in pro shop 30 minutes. We got to the tee. And were hour and twenty minutes late on tee off. Starter made us line up toward first tee more than twenty minutes before the tee Wes clear. Some par three hole tees were badly gouged up because markers were set very close to each other when there Wes plenty of room to spread them apart. We played combo tees and played forward on easy holes and back on longer much harder holes. Didn’t understand why In past there were lots of gofer holes but many less this time. Big improvement
Very poorly conceived plan of operation
Tee time was 1:32 but did not get off the 1st tee until 1:50. Terrible pace of play. Starter needed to be down on the 1st tee moving players along...instead he hung around the putting green. Very disappointing plan of operation.
Great course, very forgiving.
Beautiful course, they offer free range balls prior to your teeoff. Good value.
Fun course, nice layout, not a lot of challenges. Pretty open play. Greens were a bit slow but well maintained.
Very nice course
It was a beautiful day to play golf. The course was in fantastic shape. The only issue we encountered was hole number 18 definitely a difficult hole compared to the rest of the course. I highly recommend this course. The layout as well as the staff was outstanding. Thank you for a great day.
great conditions and playable layout
We were restricted to 90 degree rule but pace of play was OK without many delays. Course conditions were very good and greens were rolling true and good speed. Enjoyed the round.
Enjoyed my round
Couse was in good shape and bunkers seemed like they were recently renovated. Only complaint was the pace of play was a little bit slow but that seems to happen in the Phoenix area at this time of year. Most courses are booked pretty solid with people escaping the colder regions for 70 degree weather.
Good test, fun.
We played this course on a Tuesday morning. It was fairly busy, but we played in under four hours. Greens were fast and in good shape, the rest of the golf course was also in good shape. It was nice to not need a hammer to get the tee in the ground on a public course. The greenside bunkers had nice fluffy sand and were well maintained. It was worth the $.
Good Value for the Money
Picked this coarse for the price. Snowbirds drive the prices up in the area. Surprise, AZ and surrounding areas is like living in a seasonal resort town when the snowbirds come in from Canada. All amenities and restaurants get overwhelmed, and prices are out of control. It was good to see a course with a reasonable price considering. I would recommend this course and will take advantage of next price deal. This course is not worth over $50.00 per person.
Three Year Beginner-Wigwam Red
We booked late in the day so completed 9 before the sun went down. I golfed with my husband and son. As a 3 year beginner, I was easily able to keep up with them. Nice course, friendly staff, and as the last golfers of the day, we were able to move thru quickly.
Boring
I know that the course has been around for quite a while but compared to the newer course layouts this course either needs upgrading or a price reduction.
