Wigwam Resort - Red Course

They forced a 90 minute frost delay to start a Saturday in January. They could never catch up with that long of a delay, which was an unreasonable amount with almost no frost of the ground. The staff made no effort to warn anyone before arriving, so everything was crowded all day long. Checking in with the starter, to see where things were, was even worse as everyone was spoken down to, and told to hang out and be ready to “not miss your time”. Funny that it’s on us to be on time but we don’t really know what our tee time will be. Once we got on the course, everyone was pretty irritable, playing with little respect for each other. The conditions were also not great. Fairways were nice, but holes all over the course, divots all over the greens (no one repairing ball marks), and no way to repair divots in tee boxes or fairways. Marshals would check in and say/do nothing to continue pace of play. This was a huge waste of time (6+ hours) and money today. Don’t waste your time.

This is a traditional golf course, not a desert course. A frost delay probably led to the slow pace of play. Other than that the course was very enjoyable- a nice change from the Phoenix desert courses.

Nice layout. Staff friendly and helpful.. course in good condition. Tough closing hole.

Nice course but some parts of the course were in real bad shape with dirt and mud all over.

What a surprise- had played the gold and blue courses before but this one is the most interesting and added bonus are brand new huge mansions along the course - fun to look at. Would definitely recommend playing and will play again. Greens run true albeit on the slow side but that may have to do with the amount of play and time of day playing (later in in the day more wear & tear).

The wigwam course are great. I have enjoyed playing all three courses and they are all different. The red course is a great layout, but the sand traps were a little thin of sand. That’s not the norm for the two other courses.

Great conditions and the pace of play was good. Friendly staff. Would definitely pay again.

Fairways were a little firm tight lies really need to compress the ball alot of hardpan lies but that's probably due to some freeze delays so the grass doesn't get burned out . Good for driver because the ball gets a lot of run but you can't go wrong playing wigwam golf courses red gold are the best for good golfer's from the tips plenty of length. Have been playing there off and on sense the 80s.

Cart died on 13th hole. Called shop, and was told they were sending a new one. Waited at 14th tee. Never came. Had to get pushed by other cart the rest of the round. Finally saw a staff member on 18 towing out two other carts, but were told they were for another group on 11. Driving back to clubhouse from 18 we informed another staff member who said, “well I hope you make it up the hill.” Staff didn’t seem to want to fix the issues.

Bummer.
