Wigwam Resort - Red Course
About
The Red Course (formerly known as Heritage Course) at the Wigwam Resort, which has received acclaim from Golf Magazine, is one of three 18-hole courses at the resort. Built on rolling terrain, the course features elevation changes that can affect shots. Mature trees are also scattered throughout to add beauty and another challenging element. Winding creeks form water hazards that come into play on a few holes. The Red Course is popular among locals familiar with the Wigwam Resort because it is considered to have the three best finishing holes in the area. Although walking is allowed on the other two courses, carts are required on the Red Course.

Better then expected
Didn’t have high hopes. Played here before in the summer and wasn’t good. Course is in good condition today.
Wigwam Red 6/26/20
I just finished playing the Red course and i was very disappointed with the conditions. The greens were awful and nearly every ball was boucing everywhere, the fairways were some of the worst general bermuda I have played in Phoenix area and overall it was a miserable round. If i didnt have a friend with me I would have left after the first hole. The lay out wasn’t bad so at least it has that going for it. You wont see me back at Wigwam paying for a round of golf after that experience.
My Favorite of the 3 Courses
Wigwam Red is a great course and they have kept it in wonderful shape. This is the 5th time I have played it and I enjoy it each time. Challenging enough where you have to make shots and you can get in trouble but you can still score on it without having to be a scratch golfer. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys good views and wants to play fun but challenging golf.
My favorite Wigwam
Decent pace (3:40).
Greens good.
Browning fairways.
Wigwam has been good about safety matters. Just hope
they don't revert to 2 (unaffiliated) players per cart just yet. Starter mentioned that was gonna happen. C'mon, summer play is upon us. You have enough carts. Be responsible.
How low can you go
We’ve been playing this course since 2015. It used to be a great course. Lush fairways, great layout, good greens. The rangers used to ask us to enter and exit the fairways only at specific points. The fairways are anything but lush. Lush dirt maybe. It’s incredible how the quality has dropped from a great course. We played the Blue last week. It was in bad shape as well. We probably won’t play here again. Not until they improve the quality.
Nice layout
Good value Course, greens role true. Fairways could use a little more grass. Overall great day on the course.
Nice course.
Course was nice. Greens a little dry. They needed a ranger to monitor pace of play. There was an open hole and a half in front of the foursome that was in front of us
Nice course
Nice course, lots of trees. A roving ranger would have been nice. The foursome in front was a full hole 1/2 behind the group in front of them. The greens were deceptive. A nice course to play again
Sticking with Blue or Gold course
The Red course is nothing like the Blue or Gold course, the fairways were brown and seemed to be lacking water. The sand traps were thin and hard, nothing like the Blue or Gold course. Greens were hard and brown in spots. Really enjoyed playing the Blue course and decided to try the Red course but after this round I’ll stick with Blue or Gold.
Course supporting COVID 19 criteria.
Wigwam Red was in overall good shape, but was showing some signs of dryness on fairways and some rough areas on some greens. Still a great play for the price and layout. Staff very friendly and helpful while maintaining the COVID 19 protocall.
Staff
Inside staff seems a little crabby..... outside staff very friendly
Good day
Arrived on a very hot day to find a nice crowd keeping their distance. With 100+ heat predicted all still came and were rewarded if they brought water. The course is forgiving but you must stay away from the base of the giant pines where many have bark/needle/mulch areas from side to side. On this day the course was mowed short and one could take advantage of the roll and the greens were fast, true and consistent. Our 3-some finished in about 3 hours which was great. Good times for our first visit here.
Hard and fast
Wigwam has 3 courses, this was the first time I played the red course. It was in decent shape. Very firm and dry. Could definitely use more water. I would play it again.
Fantastic place to play
The course was in fantastic shape would recommend to play here for the money red course in the gold course great job on keeping up the maintenance on the whole course fairways nice and plush greens nice and fast
