Wigwam Resort - Red Course
About
The Red Course (formerly known as Heritage Course) at the Wigwam Resort, which has received acclaim from Golf Magazine, is one of three 18-hole courses at the resort. Built on rolling terrain, the course features elevation changes that can affect shots. Mature trees are also scattered throughout to add beauty and another challenging element. Winding creeks form water hazards that come into play on a few holes. The Red Course is popular among locals familiar with the Wigwam Resort because it is considered to have the three best finishing holes in the area. Although walking is allowed on the other two courses, carts are required on the Red Course.

First time playing red course
Nice course. Grass was in good condition. It was cart path only, which slowed down the round some. Me and my buddy got paired with some more novice golfers which also effected pace of play. We had the course marshals harrass us a little to speed it up but there was only so much we could do when one of the players we got matched up with took 12 strokes per hole. Still, weather was great, course was good. Bunkers could use more / some / any sand added to them.
Always Enjoyable
Friendly staff, course in good condition taking into account overseeding. Always fun to play any of the three courses when I visit Phoenix
Wigwam Red Course
The course was in great shape; greens form and moderate speed. However there are areas where the grass didn't come in great and the bunkers need to be turned over and good sand added.
great fun
this was the first time i played this course (red) and it was awesome , good play time and great course and conditions. i had one of the better games i have ever played. thumbs up to this course....ill be back.
Good experience
One of the most underrated courses in the West Valley, the Red Course at Wigwam was in surprisingly good condition for this time of year--better than the majority of courses we have played in the last couple of months. The greens were smooth and the fairways were in decent shape.. While not as difficult as the Gold Course, the Red Course is still challenging, while being fun to play.
Value play
Ok, the conditions, especially the rough, could be better. But, the layout has some interest and the greens were consistent. And, there are real trees with some size that offer some nice shade, especially welcome in the summer heat.
Average
Fairly average layout. Nothing spectacular. Muny course
Wouldn't spend more than $20 to play it
Beautiful course, lovely day
Course was in very nice shape, group ahead of me was a bit slow, but nice course, so not too much a bother. A couple holes had obstacles in annoying spots, but very playable. Red course was very enjoyable.
Stay out of the sand - 18 done in < 4 hrs
Course in good shape but some parts were newly aerated and some areas on a few greens were cut to the dirt. Greens were fast and hard, but not overly tricky and readable. The sand traps were sand in name only - like hitting off the cart path. Most traps had little or no lip, so one of my errant shots rolled out onto the short cut rough. Most fairway traps were right at 220-250, so I should have 3 wooded them rather than try to thread the needle or attempt to clear them. (I can't shape my shots) Several blind shots but the GPS map on cart was very helpful. $5 beers
Great course
I have played here in the past but it has been awhile. I'd like to believe my skills have improved and can now better judge a course. The only drawback was the bunkers, they were more compact than a light sand so my judgement to get out was really put to the test. Overall a great experience.
Wigwam red
Love this resort and the golf is fantastic.
The staff is friendly and customer service is everything!!
Great course
Played the Heritage course and had a great round. Nice conditions, great staff, and good value. Can’t wait to play the other 2 courses an site
Wigwam Red a beautiful day Gr8
Gr8 Day for Golf this time it year.great pace of play & gr8 value. Hot deal.hot day mature trees give off some nice shade and cool spots. Large greens gr8 .definitely return to play again
Don't be fooled
Have played the Blue course and it was in great shape well cared for. Brought a guest expecting the Red course would be in same condition. The sand traps were like hitting out of gravel. course was full of obstructions on the greens.....pine needles and other material. The Red course as our guest put it reminded him of a tired unkempt course. Sorry but won't be coming back. The value just was not their.
Greens
The greens were in terrible shape I think that no one fixes their ballmarksnon the green sadly
The bunkers are packed down solid
