Wigwam Resort - Gold Course

Golf course was in terrible condition except for the greens, which were nice...Needed to play winter rules on at least half my shots...It's only May and fairways looked like it was mid-July...Extremely disappointed, as most of the people I know rave about the Gold course even though it is very difficult.

This is a resort corse that used to be WORLD renowned, now aside from exceptional design looks like a goat track! Every fairway on the gold corse was 70% No grass, just hard mud. When you found the fairway you were worse off than the rough. It’s only been 100 degrees in AZ 1 time this year and the course is nearly unplayable!

The course was in excellent condition. It was a challenging course. The staff was very friendly. We enjoyed the course so much when we finished we stayed to play another 18 on the red course. It too was in excellent condition. It is more set up for the weekend golfer. Lots of fun. I will definitely be back. Next time I’ll play the blue course

I use to work at this course years ago, there wasn’t a blade of grass out of place it was perfect. The cart kids use to have things on point, score cards in carts, names of the next group on the cart, full bottle of sand on the cart. Now playing it, fairways are dead greens are slow but don’t hold on the approach shot, carts had nothing ready I had to walk my clubs to about 15 feet from my cart then finally someone grabbed them. Cart lady Sharron was great and the lady at the half way house was great didn’t get her name. Price to play was 29.00 + tax,not bad price for course conditions.

I believe you are making the change between rye grass to Bermuda most grass and that is why the price was good. It was full of difficult greens as well as pin placement.

Hostess in the restaurant was not very friendly but the bartender was very pleasant.

We normally live playing courses at the wigwam. My wife and I were both very disappointed in the course conditions today. We play the Red course quite a bit and it’s always been in decent condition with week maintained fairways and greens. Since the Gold course is the “premier” track at the wigwam we were shocked to see that most of the time we were playing off of dirt that looked like it had recently bee; rolled and punched. I understand this can be a part of course maintenance, but come on guys! At least warn customers before they show up.

Challenging course, great layout and the greens were in wonderful condition fast but good. Go play legacy

Conditions are already turning from lack of attention. Burnt our fairways, etc. The course is mediocre at best. There’s lots of choices in the Valley. No need to have this one on your must play list.

The overall course layout of the golf course is fantastic. Designed by Robert Trent Jones to test your playing ability - fairways set up nicely if you’re a long hitting but shot placement is still key to scoring well here. The only thing I had a problem with - and RTJ would be rolling over in his grave - was with how SLOW the greens were. For a championship course to have greens this slow is a huge disappointment. I would love to play this course again but they’d need to make the greens much quicker before I entertain the thought.
