Wigwam Resort - Gold Course
About
The Gold Course is one of three 18-hole courses offered at the Wigwam Resort, which was named one of Golf Magazine's "Silver Medal Resorts." Golf Digest cited the Gold Course as one of the best public courses in the state. Mature trees are present on all of the courses, as well as winding creeks that create water hazards, which come into play on several holes. There are also strategically placed sand bunkers present on the course. The rolling landscape of the course causes elevation changes that can affect shots. The Wigwam Resort facility also has a putting green and chipping area.

Wigwam good medicine
This place is always refreshing to come back to it’s so simple
Don’t book here
Booked 2 tee times through golf now, show up at the course just to find out they booked another tee time in the same slot and now we’re told one of our groups has to wait an hour or more to tee off. Mind you we booked early to avoid the heat. Our tee time was booked before the other group and we still get screwed. Horrible service
Solid
The course plays long from the tips, which is always fun. Only 2-3 greens/fairways had burn spots on them from the summer heat, the rest of the course was solid. Two par 3s were over 200 yards, the other two were Shorter, but challenging with bunkers and water surrounding the greens. My best guess was the greens were rolling between a 9-10. Average day of play for me, shot an 80.
Decent course Decent price
Change of pace from the typical AZ desert course. Greens are sub par, Rest of the course is in decent shape.
Steve
Great day playing a fairly busy course. For a record setting hot day I was surprised by the crowds. Until we started playing and discovered a course in good condition and fun to play.
Another Great Round
The course was in great shape even with the greens having recently aerated. The staff as always were excellent.
Honestly best policy.
I’ve heard that the Gold Course is the flag ship course for Wigwam.
We called before we booked, we asked how the course was and was told it’s the best shape it’s ever been.
I’m sorry but now I understand why no one else was out there, I understand that courses have to punch and sand the course but saying the course is in the best shape was a complete fabrication of the truth.
Fairways not to bad but the greens were awful, sand, patches everywhere, around the greens was literally mud and holes. I can imagine when this course is fixed it would be perfect but not right now, no way, please try and be honest for future.
Very nice track
We played Wigwam Gold shortly after the greens were aerated, so the greens were slow and bumpy. Nonetheless the fairways were well maintained and the course is fun and challenging.
Fairways and Greens were crap!
I have never played a course with such deplorable greens and fairways. You couldn’t even putt through all of the ground under repair and sand.
Fun challenging course
Always enjoy playing the Gold course at the Wigwaum resort because its challenging. The greens are short and elevated. Sometimes there is water mostly around the challenging greens. Fairways are fair and lengthy.
Nice Course, Great Staff, Members are not
The staff at the course was very nice and helpful to all of us. The course was in good shape and fun to play. The only bad thing was the 5 some members behind us that road our butts almost the entire round. I asked if they wanted to play through and they said No. we where playing from the blue tees and these old guys where playing from the ladies tees. The marshal was very nice and came up to us a few times and said that we where not that far behind pace of play and hoped that the old grumpy guys behind us wouldn’t detour us from coming back in the future. Thank you to the marshal Steve for being nice to us and making sure our experience was enjoyable.
Better options
I played this course on a recommendation of a golf site, huge mistake! The fairways are the worst I have ever played, without a doubt!
The staff were very professional and friendly, but the course conditions are extremely bad.
Nice layout
Fairways and greens were in rough shape compared to previous rounds played here, hot weather has definitely taken a toll on this Course
Greens Should Be Called “Browns”
Paid $37 for an 11:08 tee time. Conditions didn’t warrant that price; should’ve been lower. Rough and fairways weren’t too bad, although fairways seemed hard and the grass was barely any different than the rough. Greens were in really bad shape; some worse than others. One of my friends said in his 20+ years, they were the worst greens he had ever played in a round anywhere. Maybe Wigwam could close the course, leaving two open, for some much needed TLC.
