Wigwam Resort - Gold Course

This is as good as it gets at ANY price. Classic course, perfect conditions and 90 degrees of dry heat.....love it, and Wig-Wam Gold course.

This is a very fun fold course with great conditions. The course was extremely well manicured and the layout of the course was very fun. What drove me nuts were the greens. Extremely undulated and hard. For a golf course which is 90 years old, you would think they could make the greens more receptive. I hit multiple wedges on that landed on the front of the green that literally bounced over the back of the green. Then I would hit shots to land on the fringe to bounce/roll on and they wouldn’t bounce up. The speed of the greens was fast but playable. You need to play this course 2 or 3 times before you can expect to score. Everything else was just great. I felt that the course rewards excellent shots, but penalizes good shots.

Second time I've played this track, and let me tell you I thought I had learned something the first time around...but I still struggled on the hard, crowned, unfriendly greens!

Its the only thing that is unfriendly about this place, though. Great people, pace of play was excellent, all the amenities were great [although one of my $40 cigars!!! unravelled].

If you play, bring your A game and a bag full of patience, the greens don't hold anything but a spinny, high iron or a pitch and run. The rest of the MacKenzie track was a great test of target golf, and playing from the white tees, the length was manageable for an old boy like me. If you like a challenge, this will fit the bill!

If you like a little less challenge, the Blue and Red courses are also excellent, and super maintained, and you get all of the same great friendly service. 2nd to none!

My first time to play any of the Wigwam courses. We hsd a very windy dayf following some rain days. The course drained very well and the ball rolled well on the fairways. The greens rolled well but could benefit from some sun and warmer weather. I would recommend this course to my friends and would play again.

Tough course! Beautiful... but-definitely challenging!

The course was in immaculate condition; very challenging, esp the greens. The best part was the staff. The pro shop folks were as nice as could be. The starter, I believe, Ron?, got us out a little early which was great. Definitely will play here again.

The course was in good shape. There were some thin areas near the green and lots of waterfowl droppings.

One of the most challenging courses I’ve played. I didn’t score well but it was a lot of fun. The greens will really humble you. They’re fast and sloped. There are water hazards on the fairways and tons of bunkers around the greens. The bunkers are great with nice fluffy sand.

Found a Hot Deal while vacationing and so glad I came. Course is set up for The College All Americans event next weekend and it was stellar. Perfect fairways and no crowds on Christmas. Greens are fast, hard and fair. Played the right tee box and had a great round. Thanks to the staff for showing up today!

Wigwam courses just keep getting better, keep up the good work!

Gold course was in excellent condition as it prepares for a major tournament. Only drawback was cart path only which I didn’t know but pace of play was still good and for the price it was worth it. This course is pretty open so it’s only defense are it’s greens which were fast and firm.

We were not informed of Cary path only till we were on the first tee

Best course I have played here this year. Great track, perfect greens and all the employees were very helpful and friendly.
