Superstition Springs Golf Club
About
The East Valley's Superstition Springs Golf Club offers one of Arizona's most testing layouts, measuring over 7,000 yards, with a slope rating of 130. Golf course architect Greg H. Nash designed the course and worked with the landscape already in place to provide the abundant mounding, wide bunkers and good-looking but tough-playing water features.
By the time he had finished with the Superstition Springs Golf Club, Nash had created a golf course that Golfweek called one of America's Best Golf Courses.
After - or before - a round of golf at the Superstition Springs Golf Club, hit up the restaurant for breakfast, lunch or drinks either inside or on the patio, which overlooks the golf course's signature hole, the ninth.

Terrible Water Holes
Terrible water holes that had trash and the smell of sewer! Stay away from hole 6 unless you have a strong stomach.
Not Well Kept
Course was in really tough condition when played, uneven tee boxes and crab grass everywhere. Ditches and divots in the greens. Didn't look like anyone had tended to the course in a week or two.
Course Condition July 2021
The condition of SSGC has deteriorated since the last time I played a round there a few years ago. It used to be one of the best courses in the East valley.
Needs some TLC to regain its form.
Terrible conditions
Staff was great - super friendly and helpful. The course, however, was awful. The fairways hardly have any grass in them. The rough is just weeds. Greens are full of dirt and sand. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else.
Embarrassing
Never felt inclined to leave a course review but people should know before they pay $29 or even $55. This course should be embarrassed. I’ve never seen a course go down hill so fast. No grass in the fairways. Ankle high patches of grass in the rough. To be honest you’re better off not hitting the fairway. There is more grass in the rough anyways. We were aware of the punched greens and could deal with the wet conditions, since it rained the night before, but they should be paying people to play when it’s in that bad of shape. I hope it bounces back because it’s a great layout and a challenging course.
Do not waste your time or money
This is my home course that I play often. It is in terrible condition right now. They should have just closed the course for a couple of weeks or at least given discounted rates. The fairways are non existence, the greens are horrible and the course is soaking wet. What a miserable round of golf. The golf shop blamed in on the weather, but I have played other courses in the East Valley in the last few days for less money that are in far better shape.
Best greens in the area
I think they took all the water out of the hazards and reservoirs and put it on their greens - soft and fast! The course visually is not in prime shape but the most important element to a golf course are the greens and they have their greens on point!
Course trashed amenities closed.
The course was totaled. All the water was empty so it smelled. The restaurant was closed. The only food was out side. It’s July in Arizona. When you finish a round you get out of the heat and eat and drink. Not here... very disappointed.
Horrible condition
I was excited to play this course for the first time. I was so disappointed. The course condition was the worst I’ve ever played except for the greens. The greens were good. Hopefully they will improve it soon.
Rough conditions
I’ve played this course multiple times a while back and it’s definitely not what it used to be. Apparently the front 9 has had extreme water issues, and it is very apparent. Honestly- more dirt and sand than actual turf. Luckily the greens have been kept alive, but that’s about it. 3 or 4 of the holes on the front 9 might as well be GIR (the entire hole). The back 9 is still alive which is the only saving grace. It’s really too bad as it’s a super fun layout but really tough to enjoy the front whatsoever. Great staff.
Don’t play this course
The course was in horrible condition. The tee boxes were like miniature golf holes. Not a flat tee box anywhere. The fairways had huge patches of dead/no grass. Tee shots in the middle of the fairway ended up on hard pan. The greens were nice, but that’s it.
Fun course at all playing levels.
It’s a very interesting course and in good condition considering the heat we’ve been having. The various tee boxes accommodate a variety of golfers.
First time back in years.
The course was amazing just like I remember it. Challenging yet not scary and the greens were some of the best rolling and looking greens I've seen in the valley. Playing surfaces were in amazing conditions. Will most definitely play more rounds at this course soon.
Great Value !
Course is good shape and challenging! Great value!
Not worth the time or money
The operator of this course has decided not to invest in a good maintenance program. Apart from the passable condition of the greens, the rest of the course is rife with dead spots. The mounding and grass bunkers, which could serve as a distinguishing feature of the golf course are in such poor condition that instead are a complete detriment.
The owner/operator of the course may be better served selling the land to a real estate developer.
