Superstition Springs Golf Club
About
The East Valley's Superstition Springs Golf Club offers one of Arizona's most testing layouts, measuring over 7,000 yards, with a slope rating of 130. Golf course architect Greg H. Nash designed the course and worked with the landscape already in place to provide the abundant mounding, wide bunkers and good-looking but tough-playing water features.
By the time he had finished with the Superstition Springs Golf Club, Nash had created a golf course that Golfweek called one of America's Best Golf Courses.
After - or before - a round of golf at the Superstition Springs Golf Club, hit up the restaurant for breakfast, lunch or drinks either inside or on the patio, which overlooks the golf course's signature hole, the ninth.

Great Value !
Course is good shape and challenging! Great value!
Not worth the time or money
The operator of this course has decided not to invest in a good maintenance program. Apart from the passable condition of the greens, the rest of the course is rife with dead spots. The mounding and grass bunkers, which could serve as a distinguishing feature of the golf course are in such poor condition that instead are a complete detriment.
The owner/operator of the course may be better served selling the land to a real estate developer.
Thanks
Good value for the $
Second time playing here, first was maybe 6-8 months ago in the Fall. Course was actually in pretty good shape overall, greens rolled fast and true (not too many ball marks either), fairways were lush for the most part (although narrow).
If the course was maintained like it was in it's prime back in the day (i.e. lakes full of water, etc.), it would be a killer course. Greens are pretty small and difficult, not super wide open and flat, so course makes you pick a good amount of shots.
Overall fun place to play on the cheap!
Was just ok
Played it a lot in the past. The layout is excellent. Unfortunately the bunkers are in poor shape and it the course has a lot of dead patches on it now. Greens were very good though.
Vacation Golf
The staff was very friendly and courteous. The course was in good shape and it is well-maintained. We enjoyed our round of golf there and would go back.
Good value
Good value for the money. Challenging and good greens with true rolls. Just stay out of the sand traps as they are brutal.
Greens and fairways were perfect
Greens were perfect and rolled true. Fairways were lush with little spotting and the rough was actually rough. Played on Mother’s Day so almost had the course to ourselves. Lake on front 9 was dried up but back 9 looked great.
nice round
The greens were great, which is usually all I care about. The tee boxes were pretty rough. All of the lakes were dried up which really takes away from the beauty of this course.
Everything was a guessing game.
Course was in pretty good shape fairways decent rough but brown and sand hard. However, NO GPS so unless hole is straight away I simply guessed what lies ahead. On top of that there is not one yardage stick or sprinkler head on course even tee boxes have nothing.
Pace of play
There was no ranger out on the course. The foursome in front of us were all in separate carts and appeared to be playing a scramble, yet they took forever on every shot. If a ranger had been out on the course enforcing pace of play it would have been better.
Got jipped!
I had a 5:45pm tee time and when I checked in, the staff member the staff member didn't even know the tee time was booked. No problem. I checked in and went to the first tee where a twosome was just teeing off right at 5:45. Not sure where they came from. I assumed from the 18th hole which made me curious why they would have started on the back 9. I ended up teeing off at almost 6pm after waiting for them to round the corner. No problem, I have an hour and a half still to finish 9 holes. On the third hole, two employees pulled up and told me they have a "cart curfew" where all carts have to be in by 6:50! I was able to complete one more hole and had to return the cart! I paid for a full round and was expecting to get at least 8 holes in as I was by myself with only the twosome in front of me that weren't slow and only got 4 holes in! Not even half a round! I wasn't even told during check in that that was the case or I would have asked for a rain check. How can you expect a golfer to play 9 holes in an hour? Less if your starting players on the back nine!
Pace of play
Our 4-some's tee time was 10:33am and the starter told us they were running 15 minutes late. Turned out to be a bad omen. Round took 5 1/2 hours! Waited on every shot. On the 15th tee, a marshal drove up telling us it was clear ahead and things would speed up...too little too late. Also, he was wrong..It took us over an hour to play the last 4 holes. Would not recommend and will never play here again.
Course review
Greens in excellent condition. Some tees need to be leveled. Need more grass on some of the barren spots on some fairways. Overall should be $60 dollars at this time not $69. But enjoyed the round. They still need to have a ranger on the course during busy times. Just like Dodson ranch.
Superstition Springs
Teed at 6:20. While there was a group in front and back of us, it felt like we had course to ourselves. Fairways and greens were in excellent shape. Some of the rough areas were not as well-maintained and even had dirt patches.
Overall, we found the course to be an interesting course as each hole had an individual nature about it. To that end strategy is needed when attacking each hole. In particular, watch out for the last 5 holes on the back nine.
Overall the round was very enjoyable and was a good value for The Phoenix area in April.
Precision course
Gulches and natural desert on every hole. Conditions of fairways was not good. Definitely needed a marshall pace of play was slow.
We would not play again.
Needed key to use restrooms which we were not told.
