Trilogy Golf Club at Vistancia
About
Now you can play in Peoria. Book a round at Trilogy Golf Club at Vistancia, which Golf Digest magazine gave five stars out of five, an honor only a couple dozen North American golf courses share - no other in Arizona. Courses with the distinction include Bethpage Black, Pebble Beach, Bandon Dunes, TPC Sawgrass and Spyglass Hill. Five stars mean, according to the magazine, "Superb. Golf at its absolute best. Pay any price to play at least once in your life."
Gary Panks designed Trilogy Golf Club at Vistancia to enhance the existing environment, and to make the course dramatic and playable. It's a round that should be on the list for a golf trip to Arizona. The par-72 course measures 7,291 yards from the Tournament tees.
After a round at Trilogy Golf Club at Vistancia head to the Verde Grill for foods both familiar and inventive.

Nice-BUT
The putting green was totally brown and dried out and not anything like the greens on the course. I was not happy having to pay $5 for a dried out half (not full) ham & cheese from the cart lady and then $4 more later on for a Gatorade. I little steep for both. However, I like the course and it has a great deal of variety and slopes both on the fairways and greens. I played the 6500 yardage, which on the card is recommended for 11-15 handicap but this is WAY TOO LONG FOR ME (A 13). Play the same length course that you usually play at hime and you won't be hitting fairway woods to the greens on par 4's and the long par 5's.
Not worth MY time
2 pm tee time on a Saturday. Person in pro shop who checked us in wasn't rude, but definitely wanted to be elsewhere. No cart attendant. Had to track down an employee and cart then fill our own basket of range balls. Practice green was mostly brown and not close to same speed as greens (slow). Fairways were good in general. Lots of ground under repair along fairways. Pin placement was ridiculous on most greens. Cart GPS system crashed. Last saw drink cart around 6th or 7th hole. Employee stated she had "been here since...I'm going home." Almost requested a refund after 9 holes. The only positive is V's Taproom. Great food and decent service.
Good round
The course was in good condition. The greens putted a little fast to me, but not unreasonable. The guy with me in the cart was not a fan of the sand traps. I did well on the front 9, but the back 9 I had more trouble with. The pace of play was excellent. We finished right about 4 hours. The carts ran smooth. The kids loading the carts and cleaning the clubs were enthusiastic and polite. The starter was friendly. I met some nice people who made the round enjoyable. I will be back as I have already booked another round here.
Great course
We teed off at 2:18 PM and barely finished before dark (7:10 PM). Pace of play was awful. There was no marshall out on the course to ensure people were not slogging around. Very frustrating to wait 20 minutes on every single shot. We were a foursome, so it isn't like we should have been running up on people. Great course, friendly staff, well maintained, but the pace of play was TERRIBLE!! Makes you not want to go back.
Excellent
Loved Trilogy. I thought the layout was great with fair, fast greens and a variety of holes. Fun course!
Photo misleading
I played this course many years ago and the GolfNow photo that shows the long native grass must have been taken then.
Now when you stray off the fairway you only have bare dirt.
When I drove up and waited at the bag drop nobody appeared. I put my own bag there and when I came back from parking there was still nobody there. I carried my bag in and was about to load up my own cart when someone finally came towards me.
The person behind the counter never cracked a smile and the starter was equally abrupt.
The course was in reasonably good condition and the pace of play was ok.
Vistancia......The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly....
The Good....very nice course , interesting holes, and in great shape, for the most part. The three Trilogy residents I joined up with were very friendly, helpful in assisting me to navigate the course for my first time playing here, and a joy to play with ! Cheers Bill, Steve , and Mike !
The Bad....Very slow pace of play on the front 9 ....one of my group called the pro shop while on the 9th tee box, complaining about the 2 hr 30 minute pace , and still waiting another 15-20 minutes on the 9 th tee....not sure if the shop personnel actually did anything to help resolve this issue ? Thankfully the group in front of us, who were painfully slow, and holding up the entire course behind them, decided to quit after the 12 th hole, and fortunately we never saw another group in front of us the remaining holes....otherwise we wouldn’t have finished 18 by sunset....and that was with us teeing off at 1:51 pm....we finished in 5 hrs...
The Ugly...of the handful of traps I found myself in, every one of them had multiple footprints in them...honestly people, if you can’t take 30 seconds to clean your mess up, ( and you know who you are! )...please do the golf world a favour and play a different sport! ....and to reiterate the slow pace already discussed, please be more respectful of those players behind you, instead of being oblivious to your sloth like pace...perhaps play an easier course, or more appropriate tees for your ability?
Great Course, Horrible Course Ranger
Greeters were friendly/professional. Front desk was chaotic, lost a golfers booking. Pace of play was extremely fast...overbooked the course. Course ranger was extremely rude, kept telling us to pick up the pace even though we were right behind the group ahead. Not enough bathrooms. No food/drinks at the turn.
Nice course.
This course has some quick greens( like it) for Arizona courses. Very nice layout with many sets of tees for all levels of play. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Wish it wasn't so far away. I would play more frequently.
Great course
I have played here a year ago and it really is a well maintained and enjoyable course . Challenging without being brutal . The club house has a beautiful patio and view . I wish I could tell you the goodness was as good . After 2 attempts to get a burger we gave up ( both were littlerally raw ; not rare ; raw . Will still come back to play but will not eat here again
Trilogy Golf
Got to the 9th tee in 1 hour 58 minute. Excellent time! Played the next 4 holes in 2 hours. The marshal said their is a group in front that is 2 holes behind. "too late in the day to day anything about that, I'm get off soon". Got to the 14th tee and the group in front of us had not teed off. No one on the green. I told my playing partners I'm headed in. Got to the group in front of our and there were 2 open holes. Don't play here as there are no standards on pace of play... and certainly none enforced. Bu the marshal complained about the issue, but wasn't wiling to enforce. I like courses that have standards.
Top Ten in the West Valley
Trilogy's overall quality design, maintenance and service place it in my short list of courses to play in the West Valley comparable to the Verrado courses. I was disappointed that the tall native grasses shown in the promo photos have evidently dried out and disappeared. The `8th hole is still a beauty.
Pace
If the average golfer shoots 90 but takes an average of 10 seconds more to play his own shot after the average driving, walking and occasional search for a ball the foursome as a whole will take an extra hour. Keep that in mind when playing your next round. It was too bad that one foursome decided to waddle and dotle their way around the course keeping 3 more foursomes from finishing before dark.
Excellent Condition
The course was in excellent condition - ball sits up on the fairway all the way through the green. Greens were in great condition and not too fast. A little expensive for what you get - cart and small bag of balls. Took 4 3/4 hrs. to play so that was not fun!!
Enjoyed getting off the tee - traps to carry, traps to avoid, water to avoid - the course consistently presented a challenge getting off the tee.
Hi @JohnCraft
this certainly isn't the experience we hope our guests enjoy when they choose to play Trilogy Golf Club at Vistancia. We'd love the opportunity to learn and the chance to make it up to you. If you could reach out to our Club GM Scott at scott.mattiello@trilogygolfclub.com, mention this post and the time/date you played and we'll take it from there. Thanks - Kate
