Ahwatukee Country Club

About
The sun shines 350 days a year in Phoenix and you can enjoy this factor at Ahwatukee Country Club. "Ahwatukee" is Crow Indian for "house of dreams", but this could easily be the "golf course of dreams".
The semi-private Ahwatukee Country Club offers an 18-hole golf course designed by John Bulla in 1974 that is open year-round and includes a driving range, as well as a cart included in the greens fee. The golf course is par-72 and measures 6,713 yards from the championship tees.
The Ahwatukee Country Club golf course features a fairly wide-open layout, but has out-of-bounds areas on either side of the fairways - including some with houses, so watch out for those windows - as well as water hazards on some holes. The putting greens play fast.
After a tight front nine on the Ahwatukee Country Club golf course, things open up on a razor-sharp par-4 dogleg 10th hole, with no chance to cut corners: there's a towering forest to the left.

Should be called Grass clippings!
I swore never to play this course again a few years ago after a prior experience with pace of play and management, but this time it is all course conditions. With the exception of holes you can see from the road, all grass clipping remain on the course, so you literally have piles of grass everywhere. The grass is also mostly dead, and even when you are on green grass on the surface, down below it is dead and the ground is dry. The course also has massive holes, exposed water systems with leaks, tears and tire marks everywhere. The greens are probably the best feature, but that is not saying much, as they are about a 3/5 at best. Avoid this course if you play golf anywhere remotely decent on a regular basis as this will be a miserable experience. If you are new to golf, this is a good course for you and play better courses as you improve.
Glad I only paid $9
You can’t even tell the fairway from the rough. There were areas around the green where the rough was so high that I couldn’t even find my ball that was 5 feet off the green.
Golf during Labor Day
The staff were friendly. But due to it being Labor Day, there were no service out on the course. But there were also no water in the water jugs provided on the course and bathroom code didn’t work. There were areas of grass that were swampy. We ended up stopping after hole 9 even though we paid for 18 holes. We wanted to try this course but we will probably not be back.
Worst course in AZ by far
This was the worst golf experience Ive ever had. No starter, pace of play was over 3 hours on front 9 we had to leave, they refuse to mow the grass, dead trees and branches all over the course, over watered and muddy, patches of dead grass and mud all over the fairway, no ranger, no cart service, water coolers all empty, and no one to clean clubs. I had told a friend I'd played several times really enjoyed it. This place has really fallen off do not go here.
Always a great time at Ahwatukee club, sad to hear About robs departure.
Mud bog or shag carpet
This course has been the only one I could rate lower than Cild Water. Where to begin...
Greens: 80's shag carpet. Probably a 5 on a stimp. Nothing will hold. Nip a 60° and watch it roll. Bring a wedge in like a lawn dart returning from orbit and watch it roll. BUT, you couldn't attack short of the green to play a release because the mud would grab it like velcro.
Fairways: Not sure mowers were working. Patches in the middle were thicker than the rough. Irrigation is also an issue. If you didn't land on what little grass was there it was a sloppy mess. Standing water everywhere. I had more mid balls in 1 rounds than I've had collectively in many years.
Bunkers: Good ones were good (rare) bad ones were concrete and caverns.
Tee boxes: Again, not sure if all of the mowers were broken or not, but most were about 3" thick. The ladies red tee boxes weren't even laid out on many of the holes so we just had to guess for the wife.
Cart paths: Suggestions. So many were full of water, mud, or both.
This place is listed as Ahwatukee Country Club. Seriously disappointing. Not worth the drive nor the cost.
Get what you pay for
Course condition was rough, staff was incredibly friendly though! It was very slow paced without a Marshall to keep people on track but would go back.
Great round as always , fairways looking a lot better!
Needs ALOT of work
Normally love this track for the summer value knowing that it won’t be in the best of shape when I go. But this was worse than usual. I know they’re renovating, but the grass all over the course was over grown or non existent. Bunkers had puddles of water from sprinklers being stuck spraying in one direction. Tee boxes were rougher than normal. Greens were okay enough. Probably would stay away for a bit until they can get a bit further in the renovation
Good time for novices
Invited my friend to go hack it out as it was both of our first times at that course. We're not the best but certainly able to keep pace. We had a blast working on our approaches as the layout was decent. The carts had GPS and scorekeeping which made it easy to keep track of how bad we were doing. Greens we in great shape, sand is typical Arizona hard dirt, and the drinks made up for our crappy scores. Would golf again.
Don’t bother
Worst course I’ve played all year, and I’ve played here many times in the past. This was the worst I’ve seen it and that’s saying something. Don’t bother unless the round is $10 or less.
Focus on Conditions
Played ok. Course had some massive repair going on across the entire front and back sides. A few balls I hit ended up in the middle of the fairway but were not findable due to massive puddling and standing water. I have played here multiple times and this was the poorest conditions yet. Hoping something turns around soon for course maintaining because the club is nice and so are the employees.
