Ahwatukee Country Club
About
The sun shines 350 days a year in Phoenix and you can enjoy this factor at Ahwatukee Country Club. "Ahwatukee" is Crow Indian for "house of dreams", but this could easily be the "golf course of dreams".
The semi-private Ahwatukee Country Club offers an 18-hole golf course designed by John Bulla in 1974 that is open year-round and includes a driving range, as well as a cart included in the greens fee. The golf course is par-72 and measures 6,713 yards from the championship tees.
The Ahwatukee Country Club golf course features a fairly wide-open layout, but has out-of-bounds areas on either side of the fairways - including some with houses, so watch out for those windows - as well as water hazards on some holes. The putting greens play fast.
After a tight front nine on the Ahwatukee Country Club golf course, things open up on a razor-sharp par-4 dogleg 10th hole, with no chance to cut corners: there's a towering forest to the left.

Kids
No one on the course to regulate play pace. Kids on course taking there time and extra shots on every hole and very slow. They did not let anyone play through. When I skipped a hole to get in front of them, they purposely hit right next to me. I could have been hot by their ball if I didn't see them do it purposely. I then had to skip another hole to get away from them. No one around after the round to tell except for another kid cleaning carts. I think he was friends of theirs. I made my tee time in the afternoon with no other tee time before or after on that day. Only to find them right in front of me. I was a single. Not sure if their friend let them out for free. Waste of my money. I dont think I was even able to play 9 holes.
Should have asked for a refund when I got to the practice green
Short and simple, the course, with better greenskeepers, would be phenomenal. The greens are a horror show that are pretty much unputtable unless you use the force. Standing water on several fairways from the sprinklers that were running while we were trying to shoot, not fun playing "hurry up so you dont get drenched by the sprinkler" golf. I would pass on this course until the conditions are improved. By far the worst greens I have encountered, when your playing partner gives you a free relief, on the green, cuz you landed in sand (without a trap on that hole), its not a good thing.
Easter on the course
The course is okay. The pace of play was great since crowds very small. The course was extremely dry and some spots and standing water in other so maybe sprinkler issues? The restaurant puts out some really good food.
Horrible greens
Last few times golfing the course the greens were the worst I’ve ever seen . The course is actually descent but the greens have been going bad to worse . Not sure what’s going on but I thought they have been definitely turning the course around and the prices have been going up .. but now definitely not worth the price
Mark
Over last two time golfing ,course has deteriorated. This time water coolers all empty so no water at 95 degrees. Trash bins all overflowing or nonexistentso garbage and recycling all over the place. GPS not working. Need to have some care and attention.
Bad greens but cheap
We paid $30 each including cart and played in 3 hrs and 15 minutes, so that made the terrible greens tolerable. Tees and fairways were mostly ok but could use a haircut.
Golf now
100 degree day. ALL water jugs completely empty. Foursome in front very slow Caught up to them at 3rd hole. No-one in front of them. Would not let us play through for remaining 15 holes. Played back 9 first. After hole 18 GPS shut off and would not turn back on.
No follow-up
We called into the golf shop when we were at Hole 5 to let them know a team behind us skipped over us without permission. They said they'd take care of it, nothing happened. We ended up having to wait on them because they were waiting on the team that was already ahead of us playing at their own pace. Completely unprofessional, no follow-up from staff or management, regardless of its history, I do not recommend this course.
There are many better courses for the money
Course conditions are rough. Muddy, dead fairways, and lumpy dead greens with zero consistently/predictability. I’d heard about how poor the course was, and decided to see it for myself. It is exactly what people say it is.
Staff’s great!
Bumps and sand
Greens in poor shape bumpy and sandy, many sand traps near green had standing water. Maybe our group will try again in a year, hopefully it will be in better shape
Good value!
Not in the best shape but for the cost I was very happy with the condition!
Good value course needs attention
I played about a month ago and the course was in excellent condition. Yesterday, the greens are in need of serious attention. Maybe aerate? There were mostly dead areas on the greens. One green was perfect. I would suggest leveling out the tee boxes. Why were they ever crowned in the first place? I do like this course and layout and will play it more this year.
Wide open fairways, greens need work
Lots of room to spray the ball around if that is your game but good angles and lots of room for straighter hitters. Greens are bumpy and patchy so putting is a challenge. Probably worth the price although other public courses in town are just as cheap and usually in better shape.
