The Lakes At Ahwatukee

Played today at The Lakes for the first time in a while. The staff was really friendly, the cart was clean and ready to go, but the course was in rough shape.

I know it's been hot this summer, but not sure what is going on with the course. The tee boxes and greens were in pretty good shape. I think these were in the best shape that I have seen in a long time. But everything else besides the green and tee boxes where just bad. The bunkers need a lot of work, as there are so many rocks in there, that IF you were to hit out of it, you will mess up your club. I wish they would sift the sand and just have sand in the bunkers and not rocks with a little bit of sand.

Everything in between the tee boxes and greens looked as if they just aerated the areas. But there is ZERO grass. So the par-4s, you hit it into the "fairway" and it just lands in dirt and at times, just plug into the ground as there are a lot of holes in the ground from the aeration.

I'm local and this is a fun course and it could be such a great course, if they just did some more work. Add some more trees, more areas of grass and fix the bunker (sand).

I would recommend this course, as it has a fun layout, but if it doesn't get (any) better, golfers will go somewhere else to play.

Considering where this course was a year ago, the rate of improvement is good. Improvement is still needed For the most part, the par 3 holes are in decent shape. The longer holes don’t really have fairways. The greens are in good shape. The course was wide open! Very friendly and helpful staff. Hopefully we will see continued progress in the coming months.

Wait for a deal. $20 vs $39 is possible. No coolers allowed so don't know how you can ice down your drinks. Construction bathrooms .. yecch. Course is in pretty good shape though. Driving range is more popular than the golf course. Future plans still a couple of years out. No GPS on half the course.

The greens were nice and green, but long and shaggy. SLOW. Other than that the course was rough. Tee boxes are tough enough that it was hard to put a tee in the ground. Don’t miss the greens unless you enjoy chipping off of dirt. The price was right and the greens will be awesome when they are mowed shorter.

We enjoy this course and the staff. Showing some stress from the heat, maintenance present on the course, working hard!

Sand traps need to be racked rough is rough greens are bumpy and inconsistent need sand to smooth out the greens and take out the bumps and they will be more consistent

I just played here. The greens are better than other courses I’ve played in the area and they look like they are going to hold up for a while. Great value and I think playing a mainly par 3 course like this helps improve your game. I have played this course before and this is the best shape I have seen it, especially the greens. I will be playing this as much as I can

I love playing this course. Some areas are under repair but overall I enjoy it. I thought the greens were in great shape.

Greens felt like I was putting on a bed of weeds, whenever you putt the ball bounces so much you have no idea where it’s going to go and how fast. If you miss a fairway or a green you’re left hitting out of dirt or dead grass.

The course layout can be confusing for a first time visitor but a number of the holes are interesting. It wouldn't come up on my Garmin watch so judging distances was a challenge. The addition of 150 yd stakes would be helpful and would probably assist pace of play. Greens look good but are bumpy making it difficult to judge pace and line. other than on the fairways there isn't a lot of grass and what rough there is tends to be small clumps and of course your ball always settles between 2 of them making it hard to get your club on the ball. On balance it was fun to play but only occasionally - I wouldn't want to play this course every day!

Bunkers, greens and fairways were fairly good ,

not great.

The rest of the course is ugly.. Almost no shade on the course.

As well all know golf is too expensive this time of year, and I am not one to normally write reviews but $60 was way too much for this course. EVERY SINGLE PUTT bumped and wiggled all over the place. Do not pay more than $30 to play here unless they get the greens in much better shape!

I would not play here again especially at the price. Needs A LOT of work and slow play on top. Waited 5-10 minutes every hole. Left after playing 15 holes.
