worth the money, nice fairways
Friend told me to give the course a try, said fairways were in great shape. HOWEVER if you aren't in the fairway the rest of the grass is spotty and more weeds than grass. Greens are firm and anything other than a high pitch ball won't stay( starter did advise me of that). Greens were sandy and balls didn't roll true. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I played from the back tees and some challenging par 3's. For a beginner or someone out for a fun round this is an OK course.
Lovely Day to Play
Good layout, but the greens were my only concern. Several of the cups were raised a little so a putt would move left and the same type of putt 1/4 inch to the right would miss to the right. Also the speed of the greens were ok, but.inconsistent.
Another enjoyable round at Ahwautuki Lakes
We have played this course several times and have always enjoyed it for the layout. Some improvements have been made in the last few months to improve the fairways, and made the course even more enjoyable.
This was the first time we walked the course, and it was good exercise as well as a good short game practice.
The only negative is that there is no club house and there are only port-a-potties (which is a very bad experience for women (my wife). I believe the owners are planning to improve the accommodations.
As Advertised
Website says there are a lot of trees and a lot of water. True That!!. Its a shorter course with few opportunities to make up strokes (unless you are stiffing your iron shots - alas, I was not) Fairways seemed nice on those occasions I visited them - not often enough though.
I don't think you would want to play this course during the first part of your season, after you get your game on this will be quite a challenge
Absolutely love this course!
It’s an executive course but it is still challenging with all the water. Some of the best fairway and bunker conditions. Jim Reynolds keeps the smiles all around he is amazing!
Up & coming course
This course is fun but it still needs some clean up on the lakes part.
All in all a fun time and hopeful that they will continue improving and I can upgrade the review :)
