Good value, bad golf etiquette
This course is right by our house which we liked. The staff was friendly. The condition of the course was so-so but you’d expect that at this cheap price. I am a beginner and the pace was too slow. We were waiting a while in between holes for a group of 4 and another group of 2 in front of us. Some young guys were playing behind us and were really rude/impatient, they kept teeing off while I was still on the green. Their golf ball came within feet of hitting me multiple times. I could only play as fast as the people in front of us. My first experience was not so great because of that. Might find another course to play regularly.
More rough (sort of) than expected
Typical Summer playing conditions PVGC…. Fortunately there was some turf on the greens, because there wasn’t much to speak of on the fairways. The lack of grass can make for a lot of “roll” on the worst of shots, but it can be very challenging for high handicappers trying to hit off hard-pan dirt patches. Better (somewhat) during Winter months—I hope.
Good value to play some golf
Paradise Valley is a value, short course with mostly par 3s. Keep your expectations in check, and enjoy this course for exactly what it is.
Trash course, but fun
My husband and I played 18 holes on a Sunday and the pace was nice, we golfed alone and it was great for slowing our game down and focusing more on fundamentals without feeling rushed. However, the course was in terrible condition… a lot of dirt and the green was not in good condition which made putting tricky… still got to golf and had a blast and for the money it was worth it.
Mud hole, not worth the cheap rate
You get what you pay for. Paid only $18 to walk 18 holes. Not work it. the course is a combo of mud and weeds. I had to hose down and scrape mud from my cart wheels and shoes. After 9-holes the idea of "golfing" was lost. Never again will. I pay cheap and play on mud. Live and learn.
Work in progress
The course is under repair, not much grass in fairways due to 105-110 temps. The greens are improving but were just aerated and sanded.
Had a weird bunch of people today on the course.
A goofy lady acting as if on drugs jumping from hole to hole, videoing herself, and moving & talking as if on meth.
There was a golf class of kids with an instructor that hopped around hole to hole and just walked onto the green as you were making an approach shot and once when we were putting. A very slow men's group of 5 that told us to play through then as we did told us to wait, and then one of them hit my partners ball. A crazy day.
Poor course.
The best thing about this course was the price and the friendliness of the front desk staff. The rest of the course had multiple problems such as slow players who did not let faster players through, greens in terrible shape, and a driving range in y tho he middle of the course with range balls on the fairways. Also , no water buckets on the course or substantial variation in tee distances.
Not worth your time
First time playing this course and probably my last. I’m new to the area but have played many times already at other courses in the area and this one is by far the worst so far. The fairways and many parts of the rough are packed-down dirt; very litte grass to hit off of. Greens were in okay shape, definitely the greenest part of the course. However, many of the greens had standing water/mud on them in the heat of summer which I can only imagine isn’t normal. The par of this course is 61… why? There are 12 par 3’s. Lastly, the tee boxes aren’t very well kept. All in all, I felt like I was playing at a run-down course and it took away from a normal golf experience.
On the lighter side, the staff was very friendly and helpful and they deserve 5 stars. The course isn’t very busy I was able to play 18 by myself in 90 minutes.
I wouldn’t play this course again even for the low price they offer. There are many other courses in the area at a much higher quality for not that much more money. If you’re new to golfing, this course may not be a bad option since it plays short, it’s not terribly difficult, and it’s much cheaper than other courses.
Good Course For a Beginner
We read the reviews before playing here. We decided to try it anyway. I have to say... as a newer golfer that has played other courses in the valley, I agree the condition of the course is sadly in very poor condition. But we didn't feel rushed by other players, the price was right and still had a nice day.
Basic Public Course
I went out just to knock some rust off of my swing and didn’t feel like spending $100+ to do that, so for $17, it was exactly what I wanted.
It looks like the bare minimum is being done to keep this course open for play. Doesn’t look like much watering is being done, the greens are really slow and need to be cut.
The garbage cans were full at every tee box. The tee box markers were raggety looking. Would be nice to at least have a couple of water coolers on each side. And grate the cart path, it’s full of pot holes. These aren’t high dollar improvements I’m suggesting, just simple things that would make me willing to come back again.
Another nice visit to Paradise Valley
Spent an early Sunday morning getting great golf exercise, and a challenge, on a hidden gem of a course.
Nice executive course
Its Hot and dry times in AZ so the course was in average condition. the greens were in good shape though. It is a nice course to work on you short game..
