The Arizona Grand Resort (formerly known as Phantom Horse Golf Club) boasts a challenging golf course, blending desert target golf with traditional links, playing par-71 over 6,336 yards, and a 7,000-square-foot practice green with a bunker and chipping area for a pre-round tune-up.

After a round at Arizona Grand Resort, head to an onsite drinking or dining spot: there's Mexican food, and then there's Southwestern dancing, and then there's a sports bar so you can catch up with someone else's game indoors or outdoors on the patio.

The Arizona Grand Resort also offers several packages, ranging from stay-and-play to family deals to getaways for women to romantic suite packages, complete with breakfast in bed.

I paid way too much money to stand around waiting on almost every tee box

Cool layout, poor conditions and unfriendly marshal.

Cool layout. However the greens were in poor shape when we played. While the majority of the staff was great, there was a particularly rude marshal who harassed for pace of play many times. Our group was 2 holes ahead of the group behind us and a hole behind the group ahead of us. He then tried to force us to skip holes. We explained how it would make zero difference and were weren’t behind, he begrudgingly agreed. I will not be playing there again.

Beautiful course and location

The course was in great condition and the service was exemplary. However, the only bad thing I can say about this course was their lack of a driving range. That was the only problem for me in terms of value for money.

Great Course, Poor Conditions.

For a resort course, the conditions were very surprising. Disease & clovers all over the greens. Dirt patches everywhere (Except the tee shot on hole 1). Incredible course that should be charging more and putting more money into their Turf budget.

Hot Deal, Great Course

Read a lot of reviews about bad conditions here. I was really pleasantly surprised! Layout and conditions in early February were worth it. Granted we got the hot deal and if I paid $235 standard rate I wouldn't feel quite as happy.

Glad I only paid $70

Fairly typical resort course jammed into a site that needed a few more acres, especially on the front nine. The back nine is a completely different desert course.

The “driving range” is batting cage that has the hardest, filthiest balls you will ever hit.

It was a five hour round, which is probably the standard pace of play.

It only cost $70, which is why I’m not more negative.

Great

I play this course a lot and enjoy the layout and challenges it presents. The course is not in pristine condition but better than usual and very playable Greens were hard and fast, hard for me to stick and stay.

Respectable

A flat piece of land turned into a very credible golf course. The greens were very fast, probably a 12 on the stimp meter, in preparation for a Korean Tour tournament the next day. Fairways were what you expect from a daily fee course; patchy but very playable. All considered, a reasonable value, but be prepared for a 5-hour round.

Greens were spotty

Greens were dirt and sand in some spots but it was still pretty good and fast. Not too much of a bother. Overall it was a good outing. Not too busy

Not as good as it used to be

I travel to Arizona annually and have played this course before. This year it wasn’t in as good of shape as previous. Worst part though was pace of play. Almost a 6 hour round. Because the rates are reasonable for winter golf in Arizona, I suspect they overbooked. I won’t be back

Greens need some help

This course is quite challlenging. Most fairways and greens have slopes to them so you need to know where to land. Greens are in pretty bad shape so they were very hard to putt on. These need ablotbofbTLC. Love the course for its interesting holes and elevation changes. Staff are very friendly and service is great.

Really disappointed!

Tee boxes chewed up like a Texas Chainsaw Massacre! Greens rock hard and wouldn’t hold a wedge shot or run up shot. Fairways were 2/3 green and 1/3 brown/dead!

The views from the mountain holes were nice, but save your money and buy a postcard!
