Some consider the Estates course (formerly known as Adobe golf course) at the Arizona Biltmore Golf Club to be grand and stately, a prime example of golf course design in the pre-modern era, combining rare beauty with solid trickery. It makes for a round both relaxing and challenging played on lush 50-year-old fairways, with a spacious layout, reminding on of golf as it ought to be played: the glory days when graphite went into pencils and balls were only white.

The Adobe golf course at the Arizona Golf Club measures 6,430 yards from the white tees and comes in at par-71.

Due to the mild Arizona winters, the Adobe Golf Course at the Arizona Biltmore Golf Club is open year-round.

Conditions were perfect!!

Fantastic course! Resort course so not a lot of trouble. Also short so you can tip it out no problem. I’m a 7ish handicap and played the white tees but will go to the tips next time. Greens were rolling true, only one green was a little beat up but was heavily sloped toward the fairway so expected. Fairways were lush. Bunkers consistent with a nice fluff layer on top. Staff-top notch. Don’t skip the halfway house brats and hotdogs!!

Arizona Biltmore, Sharper Than Ever

Arizona Biltmore Golf Club gets five stars because it knows exactly what it is now, and it leans into it without apology. This is not museum golf or desert kitsch. It’s a serious, modern test wrapped in palm trees and mid-century swagger, the kind of place where the scenery lulls you into thinking you’re on vacation right up until the course asks you a very direct question and expects an honest answer.

The redesign by Tom Lehman is the quiet assassin here. Nothing feels forced or overcooked. The routing makes sense, the angles matter, and the course finally plays with intent instead of nostalgia. Tee shots ask for placement, not brute force, and approaches reward players who think one shot ahead instead of swinging like they’re late for happy hour.

The bunkering and greens are where the redesign really flexes. Bunkers are sharp, purposeful, and placed exactly where a confident swing wants to go. The greens are fast, smooth, and honest, which somehow makes them more intimidating. Miss your line and there’s no one to blame but yourself. Putts roll true enough to expose every bad read you’ve ever made in your life.

What ties it all together is the atmosphere. The Biltmore feels polished but not precious, challenging but not angry. It’s a course that respects good golf and punishes sloppy thinking without theatrics. You leave a little sunburned, a little humbled, and already plotting how to play it better next time, which is the surest sign a course has done its job.

Great Experience

But by updated Garmin Golf watch only gave me two course options - Links & Adobe. Estates would not show after a reboot. So that dampened the experience playing with cart GPS instead of personal watch.

Great shape

The Estates course is in great shape from tee to green. Only complaint it’s back and forth and you hear FORE ALOT!! I would bet at least 1 person a day gets hit by a golf ball. Lots of back and forth and playing out of other fairways. Busy course even on a hot August day.

Chill

Yes, it's summer . Yes, it's hot in Phoenix. Yes, you can play a well conditioned course in the middle of Phoenix in three and a half hours - no sweat !

Tee off by 10 and you will be very pleased that pace of play will not be an issue. You will be finished before the higher temps arrive and will feel pretty good too .

The Estates course that has been redesigned by pro golfer and course designer Tom Lehman provides an enjoyable and restorative round on the original 1928 footprint. The course is very walkable in the cooler months. Course conditions are first rate, bunkers have very good quality sand and green speed and conditions are appealing to every level of skill. Have a cool one post round !

Course is in great summer condition

Great time out. Played golf with a few members. Course was in great shape. Thought the layout feels easy, reading the greens was much more difficult. Really enjoyed the round and the group I played with. The course was also wide open and we played 18 in less than 3 hours.

A fun time

The course was in decent shape considering its Aug in Phoenix. The fairways and greens were in good shape. The pace of play was a little slow but later in the day it’s expected.. The stage was very friendly.
