Sand traps like stucco
Very nice and forgiving course, almost always had an unobstructed shot from off the fairways. Bunkers were unplayable as a sand bunker. probably 4 or more inches of sand but the top 2 inches is like cured stucco.
It’s a Muni
Layout is traditional for an old municipal course with open fairways, average number of sand traps and greens in good condition. Sand traps in fair condition. Pace of play was good for spring break week. Cost was good for 18 at this time of year.
AZ Muni's
The best thing about Encanto is an average golfer can break 100 without too much effort. I can go enjoy a fun round and shoot in the mid to upper 80's with a couple "Be-Backers" at a reasonable price $60-75.00. Option B is spending $120 (and probably much more) where the players are serious, the service is great and the course is immaculate.
The odds of me dropping a 6 iron close for a birdie putt, or getting there in 2 on a dogleg par 5 are pretty much the same though.
So this is a great way to get your "Be-Backs" at half price.
The "kids" in the pro shop should get a thumbs up too. (most of them)
Great day
Great course. Pretty good shape.
Ladies tees were a little long for my wife but otherwise great course, one of my favorites at this price point.
Pleasant surprise
Flat so a good walking course. Course was in good condition. I was surprised and delighted that the course wasn’t Micky Mouse. It was quite long had hazards and in reasonable condition. I normally play resort type courses. I haven’t played for a while so I chose this one. I liked it. It’s not expensive. Completeld round within 4.5 hrs and played with nice down to earth people. Nice staff. Driving range and large putting green. I’m going to make this my go to course from now on.
Cuss
I enjoyed my round because the weather was nice, the course in descent shape and the pace was good. The only downside was a player I was paired with swore constantly after almost every shot! Why
Be prepared for the last 4 holes
Overall, enjoy this track. Forgot how the last 4 holes, when you are tired, plays long. Also, pin placement, along with green condition on 6 was ludicrous. Every ball slowly rolled back off the green, like you were playing a PGA tourney.
Good
Enjoyed playing Encanto in the morning, it was nice to get an early tee time for a change
Great for a municipal course
Course was in good condition greens were true except for one or two. Played long on several holes especially for the women. I chose not to play out of any bunkers seemed more like hard pack to me. Overall a great course for the money.
Course
Course is pretty. Palm trees around. A bit tight with some greens close to next tee box. Pace of play bottlenecks
Fast greens today
Pace of play was a bit slow, finishing in about 4 hours 15 mins. Conditions were good, greens were fast. Stay below the hole or pay the price! There are no houses lining each hole so if that’s a fear this course is for you.
Rainy/windy but fun
Tough conditions with a bit of rain and gusty winds but it was great to be out on the course
Left after 9.
Waited significantly on each box after the first hole. The course was in good shape, the staff are wonderful, and the greens were perfect, but the wait was awful so we packed up and left after 9 holes. We would happily play Encanto again were there no waiting.
Great course, but the greens are rolling too fast
Years ago the green speed was a little slower and perfect. The overall condition if everything else is better.
