Arizona Biltmore Golf Club - Estates Course

About
Some consider the Estates course (formerly known as Adobe golf course) at the Arizona Biltmore Golf Club to be grand and stately, a prime example of golf course design in the pre-modern era, combining rare beauty with solid trickery. It makes for a round both relaxing and challenging played on lush 50-year-old fairways, with a spacious layout, reminding on of golf as it ought to be played: the glory days when graphite went into pencils and balls were only white.
The Adobe golf course at the Arizona Golf Club measures 6,430 yards from the white tees and comes in at par-71.
Due to the mild Arizona winters, the Adobe Golf Course at the Arizona Biltmore Golf Club is open year-round.

Good Experience but expensive
Visitor playing this course for the first time. The course was well maintained for 100+ degree weather in early October. The holes were pretty straight forward without many challenges. Not sure if it's worth the price but I guess these are going rates. Now I know what other reviews meant about holes been too close together. Too many players playing off different fairways - makes it hard to lose balls but had few people jump on my side when I was about two hit.
Course remodel made a decent course bad
I used to enjoy the Adobe course, but the recent remodel took away all the charm. Add to that absurd rates for what courses you could play at this price point, it’s not a good value. Also to note, the new course design has been live for a long time now, and yet still can’t find an online GPS app that has updated to reflect the new course. The cart is riddled with geo restrictions so you’re left guessing distances for most of the course (especially off the tee box when the cart is nowhere near. Another annoyance is the recent addition of full screen advertisements on the cart GPS. I’m talking every hole you have to dismiss it. Normally not an issue when you can you use your phone/watch GPS but here you have to rely on it solely. Skip this course, the Links is the only course worth playing.
Fore!
The investors were like "Ive got 4 acres of land and a 3 million dollar budget, build me a Par 72 course" developers went to the professional tetris league recruited half the team and said "bet".
Thats what this course is, tetris. Every hole is right next to each other so watch your head. Bright side is if you hit it out of bounds you're just in the fairway of the next hole (or hole next to that one).
Every hole had 2 groups waiting, gave up after finishing 13 4 hours into the day. Wouldnt offer any refund. Would never play here again.
Just Ok
I felt like all the fairways were overlapping, and we had balls hit at us several times. Confusing to navigate. Then cart girl was nowhere to be found until the 18th!!!
Great place to play
I hadn't played Phoenician and wanted a course that was in good shape where I could score well. This place was it. I didn't realize they had a new clubhouse and restaurant. Both are really nice. The course is in good shape. Greens and fairways were fine. The course is not difficult. There isn't much water, most holes are straight and the greens do not break much. It also isn't very long. This is the perfect place to play to go out and have a good round, at a course in good shape, with great facilities. Golf Now had a deal for $65 a round (other rounds that day were $84). All of the other options that day were $120+
Soon to be top notch.
The renovations are very nice & the regulation areas of the course are almost perfect conditions. Views of the surrounding mountains are cool with impressive homes around the property. The new grass & trees need a few years of maturing, but this course is soon to be top notch.
Nice Local Course
First time playing either Biltmore courses, and I had a great time. All staff was super attentative and friendly. On a Friday morning we didn't run into any pace of play issues. The course is pretty lush for this time of year! There is some construction going on still, but the workers were very quick to quiet down, or move out of the way when necessary. Can't wait to see it when all the landscaping is done! Plenty of opportunities to refuel via the cart girl or the snack Shack, which was very nice. I like that you drive past it a few times.
This checked all the boxes for me - very close to home, good quality. Is it the most thrilling and challenging layout? Far from it. The terrain is largely flat and there are few bunkers or water hazzards. It reminded me of the golf I used to play growing up back in New England - grass as far as the eye can see. If you just want to get out and smack some balls without having to drive an hour away, it's a great option. I'm a 27 handicap who shot 100 (meltdown on 2 didnt help), and played the whole round on one ball. Almost lost it on 18, though! There is some shaggy grass off to the right that wants to eat your ball. Greens were rolling well.
There is definitely a need for some better signage out in the back at the big intersection by 16(?). Everyone in our group was confused on which way the next hole was. Luckily, a helpful groundskeeper was around to point us in the right spot.
We will absolutely play it again if the price is right!
Awful Layout
Whoever they paid to redesign this course should be sued for malpractice. How they thought this was an improvement over the previous layout is beyond me. There are areas where there are two or three tee boxes on top of each other with a green or two tucked in there for good measure. One member that I played the Links course with a couple of weeks ago told me that they should issue helmets on this course due to the layout. He wasn't kidding. Won't play it again, I'll stick with the Links. Love the Adobe restaurant.
Strategic Redesign
The new Estates course is a massive upgrade from the old Adobe course. They have transformed a relatively flat, uninteresting, and compact plot of land into 18 strategic holes.
The course was playing firm and fast, and the majority of the course is now fairway-height short grass, which leads to some fun options off the tee and around the greens. There are many well placed fairway bunkers that make a golfer think about where to place the next shot. The new green complexes are far more dynamic and have interesting runoffs. The greenside short grass gives a golfer a variety of shots (pitch, bump & run, putt, etc) from which to choose. The greens were in very good shape for the summer months and rolled truly.
4 is a great, short par 4 that gives the golfer some options off the tee, which includes laying up short of the right fairway bunker at 220 yards or pushing it past the bunker, which brings on some additional challenges as the fairway narrows.12 is a fun par 3 that could play between 120 and 170 yards, depending on where the pin is placed on the extremely deep and narrow green. 15 is a particularly strong par 5. The series of cross bunkers starting around 100 yards short of the green impact the decision around laying up or going for the green on the second shot.
My only critique is that the routing is a little confusing in spots, but that is a function of the somewhat limited space. Additionally, the new facilities (pro shop and restaurant) are beautiful and modern, and the staff members are incredibly helpful and friendly. All in all, I would highly recommend the course, particularly if you like to play interesting and strategic golf courses.
LOVE THIS COURSE!
The new layout is great! Love the new clubhouse too!
Helter skelter layout renovation of former Adobe Course
Not sure what they were trying to accomplish here. I could go into detail, but the course design was confusing and actually dangerous. Greens and tee boxes were on top of each other and the intersecting fairways were troublesome. Using a golf watch for distance often became difficult because of close proximity of other tees. Oh, and no practice facilities, putting greens or driving range available.
Nice but still needs work
The new course layout is a bit wonky, but overall the course is in decent condition. They are still working on large areas, so be prepared for that. No driving range when we played as it was under construction.
Great day with dad and son
It was a great family day but the course conditions were disappointing. We showed up early to warm up on the driving range and it was closed. It was a wet soupy mess that even smelled. The reality is there are lots of courses to choose that are in better condition. The golf shop and restaurant were a 10/10.
Great course, subpar groundskeeper
While the round was great and would come back. The course was under repair. Multiple greens with sandy and just out right bare patches. I understand this is summer golf but dirt is not dead grass. The grounds crew was horrible. Refused to move during shots turned on sprinklers while cart was next to them. I got soaked on 2 holes. Summer golf at its finest.
nice course-good condition
everything in good condition. enjoyed playing this course. first time since remodeled and all good!
