Camelback Golf Club - Ambiente Course
About
Camelback Golf Club features two courses, Padre and Ambiente (formerly known as Indian Bend Course). The Ambiente Course underwent a major renovation in 2013. Making the course more eco friendly was one of the major goals of the renovation in addition to improving the layout's playability for a wider range of skill levels. The creatively shaped greens offer a variety of different putting options that present interesting risk-reward opportunities. The renovation added 100 acres of native desert and grass areas that add not only beauty but also require a third less water. Rolling terrain is the defining characteristic of the Ambiente Course, from the undulating fairways to dramatic drops in elevation. There are five sets of tees with forward tees that have easier approach angles and no forced carried, allowing even beginners to approach the golf course with confidence.

Golfer Reviews
Golfing in the dessert
Nice and challenging course with sand traps all over and complex greens….Really fun to play!
Excellent
Course conditions were super. Greens rolled true! Staff is friendly and welcoming. Treat yourself to a great round!
Discounted Appropriately
I’d play it again at a big discount. End of season, Covid, short staffed, I’m tired of overpaying for things and not getting any services.
Excellent and exceptional.
Greens are true, fairways and bunkers are well kept and maintained. Amenities, beverage person, clean and cold water at the course. Overall positive experience.
Disappointed
My group was right behind a tournament. No one told us there was a tournament. There were no Marshall’s to move the groups along. My round needed up being 50 minutes extra. It was very frustrating to have to wait on every hole. I even called the pro shop but still didn’t see any Marshall.
So disappointed as I paid way more to specifically play this course then I normally pay. It took tHe fun out of playing. I do love the course.
Interesting course
This was a links style course, not the usual desert course encountered in Phoenix area. It was a tight course, but the target landing zones were generous, and drives need to be "target golf" to take advantage. Several greens were tiered, some of which were not noticable from the fairway. Green books would be helpful for first time players. Starter offered no advice and seem annoyed to even be there. Otherwise staff was friendly. Greens were recently sanded but rolled true. Fairway bunkers were almost bare and greenside bunkers were sanded. Overall a fun course but not the usual desert style course. Pace of play was decent. Overall, a good golf experience.
Course in amazing conditions
This course had a links style which was a nice change for a desert course. On the other hand, this course has the best public course greens i have ever played. Will be back.
