Orange Tree Golf & Conference Resort
About
The course at the Orange Tree Golf Resort provides an excellent game of golf in a luxurious setting. The Parkland-style layout features fairways lined with mature trees, which not only enhance the natural beauty of the golf course but can also greatly affect shots. Four lakes are situated on the flat terrain of the course, providing water hazards that come into play on five holes. Sand bunkers also surround every green. Orange Tree Golf Resort's course finishes with its signature hole, where water cuts into the fairway and proceeds to run down the left side all the way to the green. It also requires accuracy on the approach shot in order to hit the small putting surface that is surrounded by tricky elements.

Golfer Reviews
Terrible Greens
Tee times reserved via Golf Now. No disclosure about substandard green conditions on resort website. I've played substandard greens in the Phx area before, and the golf courses have been transparent and value-conscious. Not Orange Tree, they told me the greens had 'pinprick' aeration marks, totally downplayed the actual condition. The actual condition appears to be from disease and/or catastrophic chemical reaction. To add to the suffering, tee boxes were poorly repaired and not in top condition. So I paid 'winter season resort rate', regardless. I've enjoyed playing this course over many years as an out-of-state visitor. Never again.
Bad Greens
The course appears to have lost much of the green on about two-thirds of the holes; it was rolled dirt sprayed green. AND they neither advised us in advance nor discounted the rate. Don't trust them.
I had played a few years ago
The greens were awful, bald spots. They were absolutely terrible. I paid $85. for a quality course? No way. It was awful!!
It will be a long time before I consider playing Orange Tree again, especially at $85. for a greens fee!!!!!
Decent Course
Overall, nice course and great staff. The greens are a little suspect in spots, but overall played okay. I got a hot deal which made the price a little more tolerable. Prices in AZ this time of year have gotten out of control, but you pay for the weather rather than just the golf. I would still go back here if the price is a hot deal.
Nice place, the course layout was good too. The course due to lack of rain was not in primo/130 per round shape. The greens were in fair to poor shape too. The food, staff and amenities was very nice. I would say the place needs some TLC, to bring it back to its glory days.
Affordable and decent course
Pro shop staff were great. Starter was grumpy!
Two groups playing a scramble in front of were slow and we did not see the player assistant on 16!
Lack of communication
Frost delay, so all tee times were backed up. The guy at the pro shop checking people in told us we would be able to hear the starter through the intercom while we had lunch at the outdoor bar & grill. We noticed after about an hour that we hadn’t heard the loudspeaker, so we went over to the driving range and found the starter. Turns out we were up next and he was upset that he couldn’t find us. He got more upset at us when I told him the guy in the pro shop told us where to wait, and we never heard him on the PA. Evidently no mic for Grumpy! Beautiful course that played at a good pace. A few greens seemed to have some sort of disease or something (bare splotches) that made judging speed challenging.
Its all about the Fairways and greens
I was told when I got to the course that the Overseeding didn't take very well, it would have been nice if it was brought up on their website. The fairways and Greens need a lot of attention and were frustrating to play.
Overpriced
The layout is nice , but this course is in terrible condition for the price they are charging. Fairways and greens with bare spots and really disappointing. They had to spray the greens and fairways with green paint to make it even look decent. Serious overseeding failure! I will not play this course again.
Crappy golf course
Will not return, had an all around bad experience.
Greens
Greens were very, very poor.
Ruined my round !!
This course is poorly maintained
The greens on this course are horrible. It's hard to believe the greens fees are as high as they are. Slow pace of play. The staff is nice but beverage cart never came all round as promised.
Skip this course!!
We weren't told about the green issues until after part of our group paid and when the other half went to pay, the person then told us about the greens recovering from the late fall overseeding. She explained that the greens are going to be the same as the practice greens. the practice greens were ok. The first two holes the greens were very wet. The third green, had more dirty on the ground then grass and there was no roll in your putts. The ball bounced more then it rolled. there was no controlling the direction of the putts. It was this way for the remainder of the front nine. After the 5th hole we started to look for another course. We quit after nine and asked for a partially refund for the nine we didn't play. The pro shop, Tyler, offered us a small bucket of practice balls.
The pro shop did not handle or present the green issues in a very honest manner. They told it after part of our group paid for the round and then explained the issues with the greens and also downplayed it by saying the practice greens represent the green, which was not the case. Then to offer practice balls for the range for compensation for $100 round of golf is an insult.
Do not play this course at all.
What a dump
I used to play here often but played Monday afternoon and was highly disappointed with the condition of the course and the overall state of the building. For the price I paid I absolutely won’t be back again. Whoever management is now has run this place into the ground and it is sad to see.
Greens need to be redone!!
We flew in for a guys event and decided to play this course cause it looked great on the pictures.
The layout is pretty good, not too challenging but easy.
The faiways were in good shape, but the greens were horrible, greens resemble a $40 golf course and not top pic golf course.
Staff was really friendly, Would not play again. Sorry.
