The Pine Course at the McCormick Ranch Golf Club offers mature pines, in an appropriate contrast to its sibling golf course, the Pine Course, and is also narrower than the other golf course. What they have in common include the facts that Desmond Muirhead designed both of them and they both date back to 1972; recent renovations have also given both golf courses new greens, sand traps and bridges.

The Pine at McCormick Ranch Golf Club measures 7,187 yards, kicking off on a 398-yard par 4 that requires tee shot toward the fairway's center, leaving golfers a mid- to short-iron from the green, which slopes narrowly. Things get long by the fourth hole, one of four par-5 holes that come in at over 500 yards; this one, for example, makes you place your drive well toward right-center if you want to shoot for it in two. Close out the round of golf on the 18th hole, another long one, at 517 yards from the blue tees, and a tight hole to drive that will, thankfully, provide your last test for the day.

Actually played Palm

Got to the course and Pine course was really backed up, so they put me on Palm instead. This was fine with me because I've played Pine several times but never Palm. My opinion is the Palm course is significantly better. Better layout, water hazards everywhere, greens are in better shape etc.

Major disappointment

This was a disappointing, slow round. Will not play this course again.

Fairway yes rough no

The fairways were green and well tended. The rough areas were complete hardpan which made it hard to get any decent contact with the ball. It’s late January so admittedly it’s hard to get the grass to grow well, but it made the price seem steep for the product. If the rough areas had not been so devoid of playable surface I would feel a lot differently about my experience at MR.

Needs lots of love on front nine. Especially the 1st tee box. Soggy and lots of dormant Bermuda. Not a fan

fun course wide open mostly

Wonderful people, especially John the starter on the Pines course. Lots of bird poop on the course though. Overall, a fun afternoon of golf.

SLOW PLAY!!!!!!!!!

We were a 2-some playing behind a 3-some who were playing behind a 4-some. While the 3-some was slow, due to the fact they had never heard of "ready play" and applied traditional golf etiquette in the extreme, the 4-some was the slowest group of players I have ever experienced. Those 4 Brandons must have been putting for each other's great, great, great grandchildren since they spent 15 minutes putting on every green. Waiting several minutes to make every shot makes for a horrible round of golf and it was quite obvious that was OK with McCormick Ranch. We will not be back, unless the next round of slow play is absolutely free and they thrown in a free lunch to boot!

Rude staff

The person working in the pro shop was extremely rude, the bartender almost as rude and the starter is the only starter I've ever met who wasn't friendly and nice.
