Pine at McCormick Ranch Golf Club
About
The Pine Course at the McCormick Ranch Golf Club offers mature pines, in an appropriate contrast to its sibling golf course, the Pine Course, and is also narrower than the other golf course. What they have in common include the facts that Desmond Muirhead designed both of them and they both date back to 1972; recent renovations have also given both golf courses new greens, sand traps and bridges.
The Pine at McCormick Ranch Golf Club measures 7,187 yards, kicking off on a 398-yard par 4 that requires tee shot toward the fairway's center, leaving golfers a mid- to short-iron from the green, which slopes narrowly. Things get long by the fourth hole, one of four par-5 holes that come in at over 500 yards; this one, for example, makes you place your drive well toward right-center if you want to shoot for it in two. Close out the round of golf on the 18th hole, another long one, at 517 yards from the blue tees, and a tight hole to drive that will, thankfully, provide your last test for the day.

Hot Summer
Greens held shots and putted what I think is above average for this time of year. Good speed.
Good shape
For mid summer and no rains yet, course is in pretty good shape. Played in Pm, by myself and no waiting. They were playing a pro tourney in am so flags were tough.
Pricey for the conditions
Love the layout but there were some issues
1. Course is absolutely soaked. Drivers backing up in the fairways. I play all over in the summer and this place needs to water less in the morning. Muddy in lots of spots.
2. Greens were awful for 59 bucks. Very slow and bumpy and sandy. No notice when making tee time that they had just punched the greens.
3. We only saw the cart girl once and that was on the 10th green. Not acceptable at all. Its 110+!! We should have seen here at least 3 times in 18 holes
4. Grass growing in the sand traps. Hard to believe this is where they play the Monday Qualifier for the Phoenix open
5. Went into the bar afterwards for a drink and the service was awful. We wouldn't see the bartender for 15 at a time. Out drinks and other tables would be out and then she would try to rush and get us new drinks and spill them bringing them out.. Got servred a beer in a cracked glass because she was not paying attention and then she had an attitude replacing my drink. I didn't even touch the glass
I will not be back for a while. Maybe end of summer if it is cheaper like under 30 bucks
Great Course
Love this course, great staff, well maintained. Was just odd to play the front 9 of the palm course and then the front 9 of the pine course. They are both super nice but I would have liked to have played 18 on one course. Either way it was still an awesome experience. My only negative critique was the fact that we saw the cart girl one time through 18 holes, on the back 9 on our 13th hole. We needed food, and they had nothing in the clubhouse, no hot dogs ready to go or anything, so we just had to wait until we ran into the cart girl, all she had was turkey sandwiches on rye bread, I was so hungry it didn't matter but if I am paying over $50 to play a round it would be nice to have a few more food options, and rye bread is gross. Alltogether it was a fun round and I will certainly be back, with my own snacks next time!
No Water
I was disappointed that the course did not have any ice coolers or water on the golf course, Yes there was a cart girl driving around selling drinks, she was friendly and gave me some cups of Ice with my Arnold Palmer..
With this hot weather they should provide water on the course for all the golfers...
Bad conditions and overpriced
I wanted to rant about the whole thing but its not even worth it, no one seems to care. One less customer to worry about...bye
Over charge
Over charged us at a 2 o’clock tee time when no one told us they closed at 5 . Hole 16 they told us they were closed! And warm beer very bad service
Not worth it
Played the Pine course. Only thing good about the round was the greens they were in good condition. The tee boxes had weeds were uneven and not good. The fairways were poor with dirt spots all over that were wet. Every fairway the ball had mud and dirt on it and you got no roll out. The course wasn’t even worth the reduced golf now rate. The course could be very nice and fun to play but the condition ruined it. Also there are two courses and several works at the carts when checking in. Not one of the staff approached me I had to go to there group to find out which way the course I was playing was. I could have pulled into the lot picked a cart and gone to the 1st tee without paying and nobody would have known. No starter or course Marshall either.
Heart of Scottsdale
Typical parkland course with a bunch of water. Not too many challenging holes, decent greens and fairways.
Enjoyable day
Good variety of holes played with employee dale fun guy the cart guy thomas at the end of day was very cool will be back soon To see what the other course looks like Fair and a bit challenging
Great pace of play!
