Pine at McCormick Ranch Golf Club
About
The Pine Course at the McCormick Ranch Golf Club offers mature pines, in an appropriate contrast to its sibling golf course, the Pine Course, and is also narrower than the other golf course. What they have in common include the facts that Desmond Muirhead designed both of them and they both date back to 1972; recent renovations have also given both golf courses new greens, sand traps and bridges.
The Pine at McCormick Ranch Golf Club measures 7,187 yards, kicking off on a 398-yard par 4 that requires tee shot toward the fairway's center, leaving golfers a mid- to short-iron from the green, which slopes narrowly. Things get long by the fourth hole, one of four par-5 holes that come in at over 500 yards; this one, for example, makes you place your drive well toward right-center if you want to shoot for it in two. Close out the round of golf on the 18th hole, another long one, at 517 yards from the blue tees, and a tight hole to drive that will, thankfully, provide your last test for the day.

Great track!
Really enjoyed the game even though it was quite slow day ( 5 hr round). Course is in great shape, well maintained and great facilities. practice areas are well done with lots of options to work on the game.
Not my first time, but my last
Played two days after rain. There was still excessive water on the fairways. They need to improve drainage. Played elsewhere the day before with no problem. That wasn't really the main problem. The issue I had was that it was cart path only on the entire course but they don't tell you that on the phone. I called about 9:45 and ggot a 12:30 tee time. They should have said so on the phone. Risk losing my business for one round or risk losing it forever with poor consideration for the guest? They chose the latter. To make it worse, the include range balls but it’s tiny bucket of about 20 balls and the range is mediocre at bes. Great practice green, though. On course, the greens were mediocre. Lots of diseased spots coming out (more drainage issues?). It’s a budget course by Scottsdale standards which is u fortunate. Invest the money and bring it back to its former glory and compete with other Scottsdale courses.
mc ranch has potential BUT...
course is well laid out and has good practice areas BUT some key things on both courses need dramatic improvements. i would especially note the extremely poor condition of the sand traps. some of the worst ever with rock hard lies in green side bunkers which is totally unacceptable. this has been a major problem for a long time and owners/mngt/ground crews refuse to fix apparently. the "edges" of the course also need work...ie tee boxes, paths, area by maintence sheds etc are very poorly maintained.
Scenic but slow
Very slow pace with less than average fairway conditions and dry pan bunkers.
Confusing.
No directions on where you are going. Cart paths all over the place but no signage of where to go. Confusing.
Steve
This a good course for the money will differently play it again
Good course, difficult greens
Course was in good condition. Some holes are pretty strategic play (#15) Greens are all pretty challenging as they are sloped or had shelves, although not real fast. Pace of play was slow as many guys trying to qualify for Phoenix Open this week..
Nice track but difficult with a lot of water. Bunkers are horrible not enough sand.
McCormickGoTo
McCormick Golf Courses are both good and moderately challenging depending on which tees you're playing. The course was more than playable but there are plenty of divots that require navigating but it's no big deal. The sand could be better but it's playable too.
A good course for a visiting golfer to start play
While not a desert golf course, it’s very playable with some challenging bunkers around greens. Good speed on the greens. Russell is awfully thin. Good number of bare spots. Fairways very nice. Lots of mature trees that come into play regularly if off the fairways.
Solid Course - Fair and Challenging
Course was in great shape, lush fairways and well manicured greens.
Layout is fair, mostly wide landing areas and good but guarded greens for your approach shots. Water comes into play on a few holes, trees narrow shot selection on another...mostly swing away and have some fun. We would return, a very good value in the Scottsdale area.
Pro shop is filled with high quality apparel and a very friendly staff throughout the course.
Good deal
tee boxes a little rough
fairways ok
greens hard and fast
Traps
Somebody forgot to tell maintenance that "Sand Traps" include sand. This course has dirt and gravel traps. My suggestion is that if you go into one of their traps, treat is as ground under repair and don't ruin your club.
Wet soggy too much water
They should have closed but wanted the money from all th folks in town
