Monument at Troon North Golf Club
About
The deserts of Arizona are the last place you'd expect to find an ode to the British Open but the Monument course at Troon North is a love song to the golf courses on the other side of the Atlantic, from the ability to play bump-and-run shots into greens into the names of some of the holes.
A round of golf on the Monument Course at the Troon North Golf Club kicks off on a par-4 hole that measures 444 yards from the Black tees. Things get long on the third hole, a par 5 that plays to 564 yards from the Black tee and is one of four holes that come in at over 500 yards from the Black tees.
The 18th hole on the Monument Course at the Troon North Golf Club will be a relative breeze, then, a par 4 that measures just 370 yards from the Black tees.

Wet day at Pinnacle course
Riding was relative since we were restricted to cart path only. Long day. Only $155 each to "walk" to the course. Every hole has forced carries and would be very intimidating to even intermediate players. I would only recommend this course to my friends in single digit handicap range. A lady on a porch decided to inform us we were trespassing while looking for an errant ball. No signs and we were only 2 paces off cart path. Please. Pretty sure this was my one and only time here. There are just as good courses around the valley and you won't have to take out a second mortgage to play them. The course fairways and greens were very nice.
Golf at Troon North
This is a great course and always in excellent condition and care. The staff from the bag drop at the door to the cleaning of the clubs at the end of your round are great and friendly. They are there to help, show you directions and give you any assistance that you need, other than helping with a poor shot. Ha. The course has some challenges, with sand bunkers set at strategic locations as well as boulders everywhere to hit around or over. It was just the best golf to date.
True desert golf as it should be
Played Troon North Pinnacle with 3 friends while on a golf vacation and it was a truly excellent experience in all ways. Troon is a little bit more expensive than many of the courses in the area, but well worth it. Spectacular scenery and well designed holes were a big part of it, and the course was challenging but fair. The fairways were in great condition and could be found on all holes, but surrounded by a reasonable amount of rough - you had to hit a fairly bad shot to be out in the desert area. Greens were fast but ran true, and overall this was a great experience I would recommend to others.
Highly Recommended
Our round at Troon North was wonderful from start to finish...from the staff, to the course lay-out and condition and the views are indescribable. It is a phenomenal experience. Picture perfect weather and surrounding views were the icing on the cake. I'll remember this incredible round of golf for a long long time!
Another great experience
Beautiful surroundings, and always a treat to play both Troon courses. They were in typical great shape, and enjoyed the whole experience. The Dynamite Grill is a great place for breakfast, or after round hangout/dinner. I took 3 guys for their first time, and they were definitely wowed. Rattlers are active this time of year, one joined us on a tee box but was just passing through.
Albertan's first time playing in AZ
Beautiful course, gorgeous day. First round of the year for me. Great dessert views and very serene environment. Practice greens were very misleading as they were way faster than the course greens. Didn't shoot the best and felt I could've played much better, but an overall great experience for my first round even in AZ. AZ is full of great golfers and golf courses from what I've seen thus far.
Beautifull course
Excellent Troon course
Pricey however at 185 us
Played phoenician another excellent Troon course for $115 us
Great day at Troon North monument coarse
This coarse is one of the most beautiful golf coarses I have ever played, #16 on the monument side is just amazing! This is a MUST stop for any golfer.
Not up to par
Have played Troon several times and normally enjoy it. The Pinnacle course greens on this day were in extremely poor condition. Range access was limited. The overall value just not there.
Poor greens
Played the Pinnacle course, and joined a 3 some that played Monument earlier that day. The course is beautiful and fairways were very nice. The practice green was immaculate and fast. The course greens were a mine field of divots and much slower then the practice green. Our balls were bouncing to the hole it took me 9 holes to hit hard enough to get the ball to the hole. The others were OK on speed since they just played 18 but said Monument greens were in even worse shape. For the price paid its just not acceptable for the greens to be in this shape. If you are spending $250 in north Scottsdale there are many other better choices that still get heavy play but their greens were great. Eg Boulders, Grayhawk Wildfire which I played and enjoyed more. I played here a few years ago and the greens were as smooth as a pool table what changed?
Great Layout
Pinnacle Course was perfect, yardage book was a great help as was my rangefinder. Very challenging greens that putted very well. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Back 9 pace got real slow for some reason and we barely finished before dark.
Nearly a 5 hour round. Don't miss the happy hour food and beverages.
Mostly good
Greens were in pretty rough shape, but everything else was great.
Great desert golf
Great desert golf course, but there are so many in this area. We rode ,but they have pull carts for use.
One of may favourites
Always enjoy playing Troon Monument when in Scottsdale. Course in great shape and pace of play is much improved, we were 4:05 starting at 11 am. Good layout with several tee boxes so you can make it as easy or difficult as you wish.
Calgary Golfer
Played Pinnacle from tips 7000 yds. $99 on Golfnow at 7.45am. Do not play in th emorning. Very cold!!! Windy!!
Service good. No GPS on carts. Unacceptable. Ball and Club washer on cart.
Tee boxes, fairways in great shape. Greens have too many unrepaired ballmarks, medium speed.
Average difficulty. Too many houses ln the course, and some are in play in getting hit.
Everyone told me this was a must play course from back home. So I had big expectations. But the course is average in design, and views. Especially when I have played Boulders, Camelback Ambiente, and Quintero.
It's an ok course. Would play it once, but there are better courses and I think this course is overrated. It may have been at one time the nicest in Phoenix, but there are so many nicer courses now. Not great value when there are equally priced courses which are better.
Pinnacle Course
Spectacular views. Course in great shape. Multiple tee boxes available for any skill level. Will definitely return.
Rush, Rush, rush
My wife and I and another couple played this course for the first time. After six holes the ranger came up to us and told us that we were hole behind. First off there was nobody agead of us when we started. Secondly there was poorly marked t boxes while going to them you would have to backtrack because they mixed t boxes together (Black & gold)without leaving a sign. In the end we played the course in four hours and 15 minutes. For the money we paid I expected the course to be in much better shape. I would not recommend this course to friends of mine as I thought it was not a good value for the money.
Best Condition in Area
This was the overall best course that we played on our 5 day trip to Scottsdale (Boulders, Camelback, Vista, Quintero). The only other course that came close was Quintero, but the greens at Troon were better.
Very helpful, professional staff; great practice facility; great clubhouse.
The only knock I might have is that there were quite a few similar setup shot holes, i.e. carry distance and hole length similar. I had to leave the driver in the bag on more tee shots that I would have liked, but in saying that the course layout was still as good/varied as Quintero and better than any other course we played.
I probably wouldn't pay $350 to play any course, but at $99 on golfnow, it was the best value of any deal we saw.
Very playable!
The greens are receptive and have a true roll. Pace of play was surprisingly quick.
after the frost delay......
Unfortunately we had to deal with a 2 hour frost delay but overall a very enjoyable round
