Starfire Golf Club - The King Course

Fairways in good shape but greens and first cut full of weeds.

Some bare spots too

For the price not worth the time.

Bad bunker condition, no driving range spots.

Average course, par 70

I booked the tee time on the starfire web site.

Starfire booking app charges a fee collected by Golf Now. The first tee time I tried to book didn’t go through as I got a message that tee time was no longer available after I put in My credit card information . So I booked a new tee time and that went through and I received a confirmation.

Now we are being charged for the first tee time by golf now because we were a no show

Not happy with the course or Golf Now.

Play was fun, with water challenging many of the holes. I liked the borders of the water, which allowed you to retrieve balls that just barely roll to the hazard. We had a 2-some and a 3-some booked, with rentals. I was disappointed that the course made us pay the full rate for one player that missed their plane and couldn't attend. The course was mostly empty and we had several holes of no groups before and after ours.

First time here, great first impression when they took our bags and took them to the cart. That's when the service changed, we went in,paid and putted, checked in with the clipboard people near the carts. One gentleman is in charge of the 9 hole course and he told us to speak with the other "blue shirt" guys. We spoke with them and they said he would notify us when it was our turn to head to the 1st tee. Time went by and now it was our official tee time, I went to the guy, he looked at his watch and said go ahead and head to the 1st tee. We get to the 1st tee and the starter asked where we had been. So we tee off and the pace was terrible , we waited each tee box and as many as 4 groups waiting at par 5s. The marshals said there was some slow groups up ahead(like we didn't know that). But nothing changed, we didn't get our round in, we had a few holes left before dark and we had been playing over 4 hours.

Always a great place to play a round. Due to the time, we only got in 13 holes but it was still worth it.

Unfortunately the weather gods brought our game to an early conclusion so we only got 9 holes in. We did get a rain check for the back 9 which was much appreciated. The course was in decent shape although the rough at this time of year is dormi and a bit scruffy. Have played here many times and paid a lot less than $180.00 but this was Phoenix Open week so prices go up. It’s more like a $120/130 course.

Had a 3:02pm tee time. 3:22 still hadn’t teed off which wasn’t a big deal but the group ahead of us was a group of 12! Playing as a group of 12. We asked the starter and he said he had someone on 3 that would make sure they weren’t going to play together. We along with the starter all watched the group tee off together. He said he couldn’t leave his post to tell them. After sitting on the tee box until 3:30 we left. Place is a joke. Over booked tee sheet, always behind. Save yourself the money.

The Waste Management Open just up the road was on a weather hold all day but Starfire felt the course was playable and wouldn’t do cancellations or refunds. Bunkers had 1-2 feet of water, greens had standing water. In certain areas the golf cart path had 1.5 feet of rushing water that was over the bottom of the cart as we made our way around the course. Price of the course was 3-4x normal because it was busy for the open, I suspect this influenced their poor decision

Pouring rain in Scottsdale and still won’t refund my money for punter time. Pro shop boldly lying saying they are checking people in left and right during a rainstorm. stranded at WMPO can’t watch golf or play in pouring rain. Rain policy is a joke.
