Starfire Golf Club - The King Course

The Waste Management Open just up the road was on a weather hold all day but Starfire felt the course was playable and wouldn’t do cancellations or refunds. Bunkers had 1-2 feet of water, greens had standing water. In certain areas the golf cart path had 1.5 feet of rushing water that was over the bottom of the cart as we made our way around the course. Price of the course was 3-4x normal because it was busy for the open, I suspect this influenced their poor decision

Pouring rain in Scottsdale and still won’t refund my money for punter time. Pro shop boldly lying saying they are checking people in left and right during a rainstorm. stranded at WMPO can’t watch golf or play in pouring rain. Rain policy is a joke.

Course was not in great shape. Tee boxex were hard as rock, broke multiple tees trying to tee it up. Did not like the layout. Not nearly worth the $$$.

The course was in great shape for the time of year but watch out for the water holes, especially on the Par 3’s as you might need some extra balls.

My rating of Starfire course overall golfing condition 3.5

In general how I rate my golf courses:

Rating of 5 would be PGA course ground condition

Rating of 4 plush but a step down from 5 Rating

Rating of 3 nice course conditions

Rating of 2 decent but not very good grass for golfing

Rating of 1 is a goat farm, weeds in fairway bare spots

First time playing, nice and green! Bunkers had ponding in most of them. Greens were on the complex side with difficult pin placements . People need to be encouraged to fill divots, even just waiting. Staff was very nice including the marshal. Lots of water hazards and homes so be attentive to your shots(wink wink). It’s a great course really and will play again!

Played at 9AM course was a little damp but dried out quickly. Fairways were in great shape greens rolled true. I was only in town for a couple days so I rented clubs everything was ready to go when I arrived. Friendly staff pace of play was great a little over 3 hours. Highly recommend for the money. Starter was a great guy and marshals on course were as well. Overall a great experience I would definitely play again. Course has so challenging holes as it wrapped through the houses but overall fairly open.
