Legend Trail Golf Club
About
When the architect Rees Jones created the golf course at the Legend Trail Golf Club, he created a golf course that brings out the Old West-style air of Scottsdale and a fun and testing golf course with greens made of bent grass. It's a premium golf course smack dab in the Sonora Desert.
The golf course at the Legend Trail Golf Club features broad fairways, diminutive bunkering and tees placed on islands, and has been called one of the Top 100 golf courses by Golf Magazine. The magazine also gives Legend Trail 4.5 stars out of five among its
Best Places to Play, and has one of the Top 100 Woman-Friendly Fairways, according to Golf For Women magazine. Panoramas include local sites like Pinnacle Peak, and a round at Legend Trail Golf Club gives all levels of golfer several different shot-making options.
Golf a late-afternoon round on Friday or Saturday, and head back to the Trail's End Grill from 4 to 6 p.m. for specials on drinks and appetizers.

Another Great Hole Photo submitted by mhinkle on 09/23/2012
Good deal on GolfNow
My wife and each paid $64 on a GolfNow Hot Deal. We thought this course was a good value for that amount, but would not be worth the $100+ normal greens fees. Nice course, but nothing extraordinary.
LT is nice. Just one thing...
Great layout. Challenging but not unfair (especially from the tips). Greens roll true but too many ball marks left unrepaired (I had to fix at least as many as I made). One thing I wish management would address is the sprinkler head yardage marks. Many are not marked so if you don't have a range finder, you're stuck with best guess on some approach shots. It's an easy fix, and shouldn't be at an unreasonable cost (as opposed to installing GPS on the carts). Other than that, this is a great option for a public course.
Great Round
We booked our time at a very favorable price through GolfNow. The weather was great, the course beautiful and the pace of play was very satisfactory. The course is difficult with two especially challenging par fives on the back. I cannot wait to play it again. An overall great experience.
Too much brown
Course was brown and dried out. Looked more like a cheap muni course. New management must not want to water course? Conditions way under expectation for the price.
Great time!
Was first group off with 3 Legend Trail residents and members..
Course: Great layout and course. Tough, and fair conditions. Moderate elevation changes, strategic bunkering and multiple shots required. Not prime time of year but was in fantastic condition for the time of year.
Experience: Great staff, 4/5 for practice facilities. All you need. Good grass range, chipping and bunker area, large putting green. Played round in 3.5 hours, members i played with were exceptional to spend the time with and helped me our with some yardages and targeting when needed.
Highly recommended!
Worth the drive
Although it's a long way out there this is a very nice course and well worth the drive Front nine is challenging but forgiving. The back nine is not as forgiving and the greens seem to get more difficult to read with every hole.
This is one of my favorite courses. Every time I play this course, it is in great shape and condition. I love the layout as well.
Very good but.......
Very very good course however two issues. First is hitting off of mats on the range, that’s rubbish. Second is because we have never played the course before several tee shots were a complete wild guess as to where to aim. They should have signage and or yardage books available. Such a great course and layout otherwise.
solid track
If you want to play a true desert course , come here. The tee ball is important to get into play because the desert is all around you. Greens are in good shape and so are the fairways. Some tee boxes need leveling . Also, it was a little wet in front of some of the greens. Windy day may it challenging and fun.
Golf visit
Played many times always enjoyable. however,my wife had her first ever hole in one at the age of 70 and everyone knew,,!! I feel it is very disappointing when the club did not acknowledge her achievement
The driving range was a little beat up but I believe it's because of the limited space they have to move it around. The chipping and putting facilities were good.
Legend trails
Beautiful course and layout but tough for players with limited skills.
Great in season value
great shape and great price for a weekend morning in November
SLOW PLAY
If you like slow play, then this is the course for you!. We were told that if we teed off before 1 O'Clock, we could play 18 holes before dark. Unfortunately the marshall warned us after 3 holes that he had 2 groups of 4 players ahead who were very slow. On most courses the marshall would take action but not at Legend trail. 8 players were allowed to hold up play for the 30 + players behind them..
Unfortunate as the layout is interesting and there are some great views from the course. The state of the greens was very poor though ( November) - pock marked with pitch marks so putting was just pot luck. I wouldn't know if this is the same all year but it seems as if no one repairs pitch marks...
Looks Easy But Its Not
Bring your A game. At least get ready for a fair challenge. Desert on the right, desert on the left and several forced carries. A nice desert course, well designed and the choice of tees will make a difference. One of the best courses that I played in Scottsdale.
Great course but needs speed up management
Great course with friendly staff. However with start times every 8 minutes the marshall should ensure speedy play. For example players with high handicaps shoukd not be alliwed from black or silver tees. Players should be encouraged to “ready play” Wilth thiis in place Legend Trail is one of the best in the Scottsdale area
