Hillcrest Golf Club at Sun City West

This course was likely very nice at some point. But the neglect of maintenance and upkeep makes it a little overpriced. Cart paths have been worn in all over the place. With some GUR ropes, some grass seed and water, with a little TLC, it could bring it back to it's former glory.

Fairways and greens were in great shape. Tees and rough need a little work. Unfortunately I don’t always play down the middle.

Our group hadn’t played Hillcrest for quite a while and were pleasantly surprised-fairways were excellent as were the greens. We could also see where they’ve been making some investment in improving the old cartpath areas (nice ramps were used to be a nasty bump).

Great to see this excellent course layout get some improvements and great playing conditions. We’ll be back.

Sand traps still need work but other than that the course was in good shape. Greens and fairways were very consistent! Our group really enjoyed ourselves.

Diff entry a place to play! Pace of play was outstanding due to gold weather but it was really nice to see a ranger out on the course.

Fairways and greens are in good shape. Rough areas are hard packed clay and impossible to hit from.

Course is in really good shape. Greens are excellent

Pace was good but traps were almost unplayable. Mostly mud and little rocks. Greens very firm with no check.

I’ve always enjoyed playing this course. Fairways were in excellent condition. Green were a bit faster than I expected.

Bunkers are being renovated so some of them were muddy.

The only thing that frustrates me with this course is the uneven tee boxes. Maybe that’s just adding to the challenge but some holes it’s like teeing up on a pitchers mound.

Didn’t see the gentleman who usually gets the range balls and helps clean the clubs after. First time he hasn’t been there when I’ve played. Hope he’s doing okay.

Mid-afternoon tee time and played 13 holes in 4 hours. Inside staff has no concept of pace of play and player assistants/rangers are virtually useless. If you have be somewhere before six hours of teeing off I would suggest an alternative.

Course of play was slow as the threesome just in front of our group were novices and were unable to play ready golf. The course was in good condition and would play here again.

Bunkers were like cement bowls, hard ugly sand. Greens were very inconsistent, some were like shaved sidewalks.

Fast greens. Good fairways. Not so good if you miss the fairway. Very dry and hard. 5 hr Saturday round.

Tee boxes - fair

Fairways - good, grass a bit long

Greens - very good, a tad on slow side

Bunkers - some good but most are not

Cart paths - fair

Pace play - very good

Other - layout is great, staff great (especially Bill)
