About
Hillcrest Golf Club possesses a championship length course that offers a great variety of game options with five sets of tees. The course has a traditional design that features open fairways lined with trees, which put a premium on straight shots. The greens vary greatly with some that are relatively flat and medium sized and others that are quite large and dramatically sloped or multi-tiered. In addition to several sand bunkers, water hazards in the forms of lakes and ponds come into play. The signature hole is the par-5 13th, which has been touted by the Phoenix Gazette as being on of the best holes in the state. Hillcrest Golf Club not only has a dogleg around a lake, the hole requires an approach shot uphill to a green that is guarded by eight bunkers.

Are the mowers broken
The fairways were like hitting in thick rough and it shows they have not been mowed in some time. The greens weren't cut and were very slow. The tee boxes were un even and the grass was almost 2 inches thick. . This could be a great place to play if they showed some love to the course.
1st timer
I would play this course as much as i could if it wasn't so far from me bunkers needed attention, but weather doesn't help all around fun course, i recommended it.
Poorly may
The tee boxes were 3 inch rough, the bunkers have grass and rocks, no sand, to many groups pushed through played for 5 hours and didn’t get finished, not enough carts, poorly maintained.
Needs work
Course needs work cart paths are non existing very dusty not enough signs some were broken.
No water or beverage cart on the course.
Restaurant closes at 4:00 no way to get any liquid.
No water on course
I was shocked to find no water on this curse and no beverage cart. When we made the turn at 4:30 the restaurant was closed. No place to get a drink anywhere. I will never play here again.
Too bad. Course is in decent condition. Greens are interesting but too slow.
Slow day
Course was too crowded. Waited on almost every hole before we could hit a shot. Group behind us was hitting into us as we waited.
Teens were slow but consistent. Fairways were good. We enjoyed our day.
A nice course but slow green. We played around 10:40 am and found the green so slow that our foursome ended up three put in most of the holes. The setup and design is great, the pace of play is great. If only the green could be around 9.5 would have been fantastic. We finished the round in 4 hours and 20 minutes. Just right!
Great fun
All the rain has this course in pretty good shape. The tees weren’t mowed however and the ball and tee just barely cleared the grass. The greens were pretty long and fuzzy but ok overall. Fun course.
Bunkers
Bunkers should just be filled in. There are an embarrassment to the course
If you like rinsing a lot
I love this course layout. It’s as though you’re going around in circles. Water on many holes; play the Par 3s short front and go for a long putt. Otherwise , you’ll rinse a few shots. On Par 4s & 5s with water, shots need to be in center fairways due to slopes that feed balls to the water. I enjoy this course immensely but I wish they would keep the rough and bunkers comparable to fairway conditions.
