About
Hillcrest Golf Club possesses a championship length course that offers a great variety of game options with five sets of tees. The course has a traditional design that features open fairways lined with trees, which put a premium on straight shots. The greens vary greatly with some that are relatively flat and medium sized and others that are quite large and dramatically sloped or multi-tiered. In addition to several sand bunkers, water hazards in the forms of lakes and ponds come into play. The signature hole is the par-5 13th, which has been touted by the Phoenix Gazette as being on of the best holes in the state. Hillcrest Golf Club not only has a dogleg around a lake, the hole requires an approach shot uphill to a green that is guarded by eight bunkers.

More food options in the clubhouse. The Ruff was just dead grass. Should maybe change to a desert landscape if the grass was up kept
Terrible upkeep
They advertise that there have been 5 Senior Tour events as well as 2 LPGA events played here. That must’ve been a long time ago. The course was in terrible shape! Dry everywhere! We paid $80 for a course that shouldn’t have been more than$30.
Great layout
I've played this course numerous times and I've always found the layout fun yet challenging at the same time especially holes 16,17,18. The only issue I have is the green fees have increased from the $40-$50 range to last Sunday's $85 plus tax. That is a bit much for this course in my opinion. I definitely will not play here as often as I used to at this price point.
Fairway bunkers
Decent course, but the fairway bunkers need a lot of work. No sand in the bunkers and grass has started to over take them. Need to repair or get rid of them.
Pace of play slow!!!
We teed off 25 minutes after our tee time. The first 9 holes were played at a turtle pace. The last 9 holes were tolerable. Rangers seemed non-carrying about pace of play.
Course was in decent shape
Ok
Fairways and greens were in good condition. Anything off the fairway and you were lucky to be in any grass. Mostly just dirt. Tee box grass was pretty high and needed to be cut.

Bunkers - some good some not
Enjoy playing Hillcrest, good design, challenging.
Good course needs attention
Nice layout. Things are in need of a refresh...bathrooms, tee boxes, etc. Fair number of dirt patches and sand bunkers were under repair.
