Hillcrest Golf Club at Sun City West

Apparently this course has hosted LPGA and PGA Seniors events in the past and it is a great layout.

Looks like it has fallen in disrepair in the past but they are working to improve

Fairways and greens were excellent, bunkers need work

For the price it is definitely worth playing

We chose a 1:45 pm tee time, but due to slow paced players along with no golf sheriffs/rangers we weren’t able to finish (which was fairly lame). The course is in absolutely incredible shape. The overseer went great.

Need to invest in cart paths to prevent course from getting beat up by golf carts, but great course; Loved it!!

The fairways were in great shape as were the greens. The lot of the tee boxes need some work to level them out and plant grass areas that have over used. The new ladies tee boxes are level and great shape.

Haven’t played here in two years. Thought I would try it again, due to the Golf Now Hot Deal. I was scheduled with three other players who when called, never came to the first tee. I started as a single, and ended the round as a fivesome, due to a very slow pace and long backup.

The main fairways and greens were in fairly good shape. The rough was really rough, lots of bare spots, and bunkers need some work. Very poor signage at the tees, and no cart paths to drive on and guide your way through the course. Staff was friendly and the course layout is good and challenging. But, overall the golf course needs some serious improvements. With the discount, I got what I paid for.

Scale of 1-5 (bad to excellent). Tee boxes - 3; Fairways - 5; Greens - 5; Bunkers - 1; Cart Paths - 2. Love layout and design. Challenging course. Excellent outside staff especially Wild Bill. Price is very fair.

Lots of work done here since I was here last. Older course with issues on the margins, but the greens are in great shape, tee boxes moved from previous locations on a few holes. Par3's are a real test on this course. Weather was perfect. A great day was had.

Always enjoy playing at Hillcrest. Right now course is in good condition. On a scale of 1-5 (5 being best), tee & fairways are 4, greens are 5, bunkers 2. The course is a great design. Staff members are friendly.

I've been playing this course for over 30 years. Finally the fairways and greens have been seeded properly and they are in excellent condition. Now, for the bad news. ALL the bunkers, both fairway and greens are basically hard dirt and dried mud. We just played them as GUR unless you want to skip a SW off the "concrete". I was told by the pro-shop that new sand is coming but who knows when. If they get the bunkers done right then I would rate the course 4 stars or better. I feel the rate is still a little high for the conditions, we paid $62, on a Tuesday.

The joy of playing hillcrest is in remembering what it once was....back in the mid 80s. The track layout is wonderful. The course shows many signs of lack of capital to have it in outstanding condition. Don't play here if you want some high level experience. Play it to remember what it once was and to have a nice, relaxing round. I will always play hillcrest when we are in town. Very good value too.

Played with my wife and son. We had a great time. The course was still cart path only due to overseeding. The fairways were excellent as were the greens. The bunkers need redo and staff said that will happen soon. The staff are some of the friendliest people.

Great course for the price. Tempo felt too fast. Seemed like there were too many people close together
