Great Eagle Golf Club
About
Great Eagle Golf Club, rated one of the most affordable golf courses in Arizona, is a championship course in the West Valley. Although it has a traditional design there are several unique and challenging elements that come into play such as undulating mounds that cause uneven lies and well-guarded greens. Water hazards also come into play on four holes. The golf course offers three sets of tee boxes so that there is some flexibility regarding levels of challenge, but overall the course is suitable for any player. The Great Eagle Golf Club, in addition to the course, also offers both a chipping green and a putting green.

Bird Day
Day was great, pace of play terrible. Group in front of us had 4 dads with three kids tagging along. Starter should have seen the seven bags and said something.it didn’t matter much since course was completely filled.we’re it not for the company it would have been a long day.
Great Eagle
Narrow. Challenging Fairways, Lots of rolling burns, greens were inconsistent - slow on some and quick on others but overall pretty fair. The starter was really unorganized - we went off about 10 minutes late, there was a five-some ahead of us that we were supposed to go off before. The Golf cart was a antiquated pice of crap, brake didn't work - really - had to use another cart to prevent cart rolling down hill, no sand to fill divots on cart, the cart path wasn't marked, the course wasn't marked well for newcomers.
You get what you pay for
I played this course for the first time. I read the reviews so I knew I wasn’t expecting much. Though the front nine is a little rough the layout was nice. The course was in a little better shape for the back nine and again to my surprise some nice holes. Pace of play was slow but I think that was due to being a Friday after the holiday.
For the price I thought it was Surprisingly OK.
Definitely not my favourite course!
We thought the 90 degree rule was a joke as course was in rough shape anyways. Power cart died on first hole. Glad I golfed here but probably won’t be back.
Great Eagle not great but okay
Staff was cordial and welcoming, cart guy was helpful and humorous. The brakes were well worn in mine, stops had to be planned. The other twosome's cart was squeaky, perhaps the course should lease/buy some new ones for 2021. I came down to Peoria from Colorado for Thanksgiving and have been here many times in the past. Unlike many AZ courses in October, this one did not over-seed so it was worn down because of the drier than normal weather and more play. The course is not too long and most holes are inviting from the tee box. The bermuda grass greens were quite slow, might not have gotten around to mowing them on Monday morning. Most were on the small side and well-protected by bunkers, long was wrong most of the time. The grassy areas around the greens were hilly and short in height so not easy to get it up and down unless you were playing from the fairway short of the green. The fairways were not plush but seldom had to bump the ball to a decent spot. A few of the holes had some water to avoid but you did not have to carry it to get to a green or more fairway. There were scrub brush and other desert plants in the native areas but it was not too difficult to find errant shots, unless they hid in bushes. We did not eat at the bar and grill, the gals did not like the fried food smell and it did not have a bathroom inside. All told, the Great Eagle made for an enjoyable round of golf as long as you did not expect it to be an upper echelon golf club which it is not. Pretty easy to get a time so get out and play it.
Great Eagle
This course has been unchanged for the last few years, and I don't think any thing will change in the near future..
Nice course.
Nice layout, greens a little slow, tee box, grass is a little to long, they have just over seeded so they may cut the grass soon and trim it up but overall it’s a fun track to play.
Great Eagle worth the $$
Reviews show that the course was in rough shape last spring, there are some dirt edges and slopes, but doesn’t really impact the fairways or greens, which were in good shape. Difficult target course, but we had a great time. Take a few extra balls
Goid Value
I love Great Eagle! It is a little rough around the edges but is a very interesting course! Great prices for winter golf in the area!
Great Eagle
Course was in horrible shape this summer. They have corrected the shape of the course. It is in good shape now. Greens are a little slow, but roll OK. A great improvement from this summer.
i would return
Although I checked that I had not played this course previously, I believe I might have over 3 years ago. Be that as it may, I would say the following: the weather was perfect, pace of play was very good, I love the layout. As to constructive criticism, I have a couple of comments. First, there needs to be a course map on the scorecard- it's somewhat difficult to find your way around on some holes. Second, this course has so much potential to be more than it is. The fairways could use some help- lots of bare spots. If you are off the fairway at all, it is all hardpan- esthetically, it doesn't look good and playability-wise it's impossible. There has probably been overseeding recently and the greens are a little fuzzy. But I'd play it again.
Beautiful day at Great Eagle!
This is not really a premiere course - some bare spots, mostly dirt cart paths, and there are l-o-t-s of moguls and washes on the course. Nevertheless, it is a fun course to play. I wouldn’t say it was worth the $40 fee, but that’s okay. They should mark directions to each hole, not just a few. Good thing we played with someone who knew the course or we would have gotten lost a few times. Not our best round, but that was our own fault.
