About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2018.
Cahoon Plantation in Chesapeake originally opened with a 27-hole layout but it has seen a major transformation since opening. One of the nines was eliminated and the flat terrain was molded into a gently rolling championship layout. The golf course has mostly parkland holes but there are some that have a links-feel, guaranteeing that there's enough variety to please any golfer. The layout is mostly wide open with very few trees to obscure the views. Water comes into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are a few strategically placed bunkers as well. The 15th hole is Cahoon Plantation's best par 3. The green is well protected by bunkers and a small pond but there is still an opportunity for a birdie, which will probably be your last chance for one before you face the difficult closing stretch of holes.

A Little Disappointed
I have played Cahoon Plantation several times, but the conditions today were average at best. Large trucks from construction site next door continued to stir up dust, and the course--even the greens--was brown.
Fun golf course and challenging greens.
Overall I had a good experience and will be returning in the summer. Lots of construction going on around the course and have to drive cart on gravel a little bit, but not a big deal. Greens and fairways where in good conditions for early March. Definitely worth playing.
Good times at Cahoon
It's end of Feb but conditions pretty solid at Cahoon. Greens are fast and true. Fairways are in good shape. Some bunker work is being done. Good variety of holes and a quality track. 18 a great finisher.
Enjoy this course
As usual fairways were great even considering the excessive rain we have had and the fact that it is February. Greens were good, but not great because of old ball marks, still pretty fast. Like that.
tests your game
This is a great layout. It will test all aspects of your game . The greens are fast but manageable and the fairways are cut close with moguls surrounding the sides.Lots of blind shots and shot placement options so come prepared to think your way around the course. House's near by but do not encroach on the course.
Best kept course in south hampton roads
This course is always in great condition and plays like a $100 round course.
One of the best in Hampton Roads
This course is fun and challenging, one of the best courses in Hampton Roads
Still awesome
Haven't played here in several years but still one of the best courses in Hampton roads. Great value when you can catch a special. Staff were friendly and course was in great shape, definitely recommend playing here.
Great Course in Virginia Beach!
Course was spotless. Fairways were in fantastic shape. Greens were challenging but consistent. Bunkers were clean and raked. Hole 11 seems to be the signature hole and was fun to play. Finishing on 18 was another hole that was put together very well. I got a deal on golfnow.com to play this course, but after playing, I found out I got a great deal! This course is well worth the few extra dollars when compared to other local public courses. If you only play a few courses yet this season, play this one.
Nice course with challenging carry shots. Stay in fairways!
Nice course for all level of players. Usually required to play with pairings when using GolfNow even with course slow.
Well groomed. Great fairways.
A real pleasurable course to play. This is a real gem.
Rained out unfortunately!
We got rained out, but got no rain check. I love this course. Unfortunately, the fairway was soggy, and the greens were Aerated for the 2nd time in recent weeks.
Cahoon Plantation remains the best course in area from tee to green.
Course is the best maintained and the most challenging in Hampton Roads. Marshall worked with a slow group to move them on so we finished in a little over 4 hours on a Sunday!
Bent grass fairways
If you have never played bent grass fairways you are missing out. This course is pricey but is in very good shape. I am a 15 handicap and the starter suggest i play the white tees. This was a mistake as the course is easy and short. If you hit it over 250yrds off the tee you want to play the blue tees. Otherwise you will have driver, wedge into nearly every green. One of my negatives of the course would be all new construction going on throughout the course. On almost every hole there is a new home being built or some sort of heavy equipment being operated. Also on numerous holes there are major roads that are very close to the hole. This makes for eye sores and loud noises that almost ruin the atmosphere.
Great Greens
A Bentgrass lovers paradise. Good quality greens and tee boxes. The only negative is the number of unrepaired "fresh" fairway divots. Plenty of course marshalls and good speed of play. We will be back
Cahoon plantation
Great course. No cart girl when I was there. Fairways and greens in great condition.
This course is in great shape. My advice..keep it in the fairways.
Excellent experience all around. Fun..yet challenging course. Fairways are plush and the greens are fast.
The course presents excellent challenges
Playing the Cahoon plantation was a challenge for me from the start. It took a while to get used to and stay on the fairways. With the absence of mature trees on many of the holes I found myself over compensating trying to keep the ball in the fairway. This has turned out to be one of the more challenging courses that I have played to date. I look forward to my next visit to Cahoon plantation and re-engage to better my previous score. The price listed on GolfNow made my selection a no-brainer! Cahoon Plantation for under $25.00 was a steal! Thanks GolfNow! You’ve become my first stop before heading out for a round of golf.
