Perfect round of golf
I played the Chardonnay and Zinfandel course on Saturday 11-12 and the courses were in excellent shape and the weather was equal. This was the 5th time I played this course since the 12 of October and the conditions and pace of play have been perfect each time making me want to play there every weekend while I am in town for work. Well worth the 70 minute drive.
Beautiful vistas-challenging course
Very nice staff. Course condition was excellent. Played in 4 hrs 8 min on a Saturday! Highly recommend

A Rewarding Challenge
The links style layout in the Livermore wine country sets up with wind as the primary course defense. From the white tees on a calm morning, pars and maybe birdies might be feasible, but the challenges magnify with afternoon gusts. Note that almost all putts "favor Mt. Diablo" to the north. Sometimes the effect is slight, other times the ball appears to break uphill. The greens are fast and fair and the pace of play is usually 4.5 hours or better, unless there is some type of tournament. I usually always leave the course satisfied that I played something fair yet challenging enough to test all parts of my game.
Challenge for good golfers
Poppy Ridge is owned by the NCGA along with Poppy Hills in Monterey. Poppy Ridge has three 9-hole courses. This is a course that requires you to think around the venue. You are rewarded for good shots and penalized for errant hits. The practice facility is second to none.
McCovey Cove caddy member!
1st timer, played the Zin and Merlot course. Loved everything about the course. Like the game itself, just stay in the fairway and you will be just fine, but even if you are not, it was forgiving. Lots of wildlife including red tailed Hawks, rabbits, squirrels, and even leaping trout in the lakes. Great experience will go back often.
That said, while the greens seemed to play a little slow but that could just be me not making any putts! Pd!

Little warm for this area, but course was very nice. A few more weeks to return greens to normal conditioning ( after punching in late March) and most marks would be 5-stars.
Not bad
My game would be better if it was not windy. Overall, not a bad course. However, before going there, I read some reviews, and someone said that the course layout is too long, but actually it was not. The problem was that it was my first time to play there, so I was not sure where I should have aimed, but I can definitely say it is not super long length course.
Also, greens are really really really really slow. Even though fairways are good, I am not gonna go back playing because greens are too slow and it made me boring.
Great layout and excellent condition
Despite the greens having just been punched, the course was in excellent condition. Make sure you practice your sand game and get that putter going or you will be looking at a lot of 3 putts.
Great day on the course
The weather was perfect, birds were chirping throughout the day. The surrounding green hills and vineyards were just beautiful and peaceful. We played Chardonney /Zinfandel, the course conditions were excellent, pace of play was great! Overall a great day!
It's a beatiful course
This course was awesome. The views are great. Pace of play was great. It won't be my last time there :)
Hard to beat this course
It has challenges at every level for every player,It is Livermore's Cinnabar hills.Basically there is a mountain course, and valley course and a lake course all of which are excellent just depending on your preference of play.I love them all and all are in great shape and the greens very smooth and fast.Just a fantastic place to shoot a round and enjoy the day.....very scenic.
Poppy Ridge is in great shape!
Right now Poppy Ridge is in as good of shape that I have ever seen it. The greens are smooth and fast and the fairways are in great condition. The rough is the lowest I have ever seen it. I highly recommend playing it now!
