Callippe Preserve Golf Course

Love the layout and how the course makes you think and be strategic with your shots.

Only Downside: There have been more and more Squirrels and Holes in the ground on the course the last few times I played. The geeens are very soft and bumpy. Does ANYONE know how to fix a ball mark?? It is getting worse and killing the greens!

I’m not really picky about golf courses, as long as the pace of play is good, I’m willing to play for 4.5 hours but when it gets to be longer than that someone needs to be there to address the issue I didn’t see that happening and although the course makes recommendations on which tees to play based on Handicap it should be enforced, this was a very good course to play just needed a marshal to keep the pace up

This was my first time playing at Callippe Preserve, and I can truly say it lived up to the hype from golfers I had met at other courses during my week in the Dublin, Pleasanton & Livermore area. First and foremost the location offers wrap around views of the mountains and hills. Being from Florida I don’t get to see terrain like that everyday so needless to say it was quite the treat. Now as for the course, I chose to play Callippe not because of the recommendations of others but because it resembles the layout of a course I’ll be playing for a tournament and I needed the practice with the course layout and it did not disappoint. The holes where the fairways are open, pull your driver. The holes where you have a narrow opening definitely use your 3 or 5-woods for a long iron for accuracy to get to the fairway otherwise you will end up in some tough lies. The elevated tee shots but shooting down & up require you to know what you can & cannot hit. If it’s windy, make sure you calculate that in on how you plan to shape your shot. A miss with the winds will leave you struggling to save par or bogey. Overall, I loved the course and will play it again.

Overall, course condition was good.

Observed a lot of rodent holes in fairways and rough that might be some problem when golf balls encounter.

Several holes had crossed creek and had to manage well not hitting with driver, but use wood, hybrid, or irons: learned course management.

Definitely will come back to test accuracy and course management skills again.

Overall, nice course!

I will play again with course management in mind, must place your shots. Next outing i will book a foursome.

I like the challenge courses.

This course is one of my favorites and is always in immaculate condition. The only issue I can bring up is the bunkers are in need of some TLC, but truly a gem of the tri-valley.

A 5 1/2 hour round is pretty typical during the week. I can't imagine the weekends

Beautiful well maintained course. The pace was a bit slow but otherwise great course to play

Course is Scenic, Greens are in great condition, fairways are nice considering how many ground squirrels are hanging out with you. Here is why I would not play here again. They book 4somes every 10 minutes and there is no marshaling whatsoever. Monday 1pm tee time-- 5 1/2 hrs took all the fun out of it. I can't imagine a weekend. We even called the clubhouse to point out the offending groups ahead with a response that the whole course is backed up when clearly it was not. One of the groups ahead of us was getting stoned and playing in bare feet, fine if it's a $20 par 3 course, but not here.

Nice layout. Challenging but fun. Greens are clean, fairways are crisp.
