The Bayonet at Bayonet/Black Horse Golf Course

About
It was upon this land that General Bob McClure constructed the Bayonet Golf Course in 1954 and, due to Bayonet's initial acclaim, Fort Ord decided to expand the course. In 1964 a second 18-hole championship course named Black Horse was officially opened.
The Bayonet and Black Horse courses are steeped in rich tradition and have played host to PGA Tour greats such as Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson, as well as several U.S. Presidents and foreign dignitaries. After a practice round in 1997, PGA Tour Professional Billy Andrade said, "If they play the U.S. Open here, the scores would be over par. It's tough, but it's fun!" One thing is for certain, the Bayonet and Black Horse Golf Courses offer golf enthusiasts and history buffs alike, an experience that they are unlikely to forget.

Hilly
The course was hilly with undulating greens, and lots of bunkers. Marine layer was in affect and should be expected. The greens were in great shape and pretty fast. We played as a twosome but pace of play was good. Great course.
Always improving the courses.
The management continues to improve every aspect of both courses.
Loosing the view
I love this course but not the new construction
So the future of loosing the various ocean views at different holes? Is sadding🙉⛳️🏌🏻

The Greens we found fast and crazy exciting.
We used a lot of (“whatThe” ) golfing language did you see how hard that put broke away from the cup!!! After getting there for the drop !
Just love it! Dreaming We will putt better on our round.
Excellent Course
The course was in great shape and has challenging holes. We were four people playing best ball, so we moved with a quick pace, finishing in under four hours. Nonetheless, I found that the group behind us (and in turn the group behind them) put far too much pressure on those in front of them, taking away some of the pleasure in the game. A course marshall was conspicuously absent.
Escaping S TX Heat for aFantastic Treat
Beautiful Pebble Beach like course for a fraction ot their cost. Narrow fairways were challenging but doable and fun. We signed up for a tee time that showed 20 minute blocks. When we got there, there was a steady stream of player tee times every 10 minutes. We had a slowere group in front of us and a patient, but still waiting group behind us. I sqeezed in a quick bathroom break between 9 and 10 after the Starter told me that if I took a break, it would be an indefinite wait to fir me in and this was a Wednesday. Still a great time and I would definitely return.
Course undergoing grass replacement project and construction of new homes so it is currently pretty torn up.
Keeps you on your toes
Great course with difficult pin locations. The course looked great. The pace of play was lacking with a 3 some in front of me taking forever but other then that great place to play
Always a good golfing experience
