The Bayonet at Bayonet/Black Horse Golf Course

Just wish the pace was a lil better . Otherwise exceptional experience!

I have played here multiple times over the last three years. Black horse and Bayonet are two of my favorite courses in the area.. The golf course supervisor, Parker Ray, who has been there for a year or two, has done an amazing job whipping these courses into tiptop shape and also dealing with a major storm that blew over 100 trees last winter. I love the layout of both courses. The holes are challenging yet fun and good shots are rewarded. The fairways and greens were perfect when I was there. Obviously a lot of work has gone into getting this place into top-notch shape. I recommend these courses to anybody who’s going to play on the Peninsula, They are as nice as the most expensive private courses at much less cost.

Course is in great condition. Greeens are tough on Blackhorse- tougher than bayonet. All controllable are great - can’t control wind and temperature. Always pack a jacket for golf on Monterey

Love Bayonet and Blackhorse!

Bayonet Golf Course was in excellent condition. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the cart was quite new. They even provided free bottled water and range balls for our warm-up. We finished the round in 4:15 on a beautiful Sunday morning.

The tee boxes, fairways, roughs, and greens were all in pristine condition. We were thoroughly impressed with the course’s overall condition. And we plan on returning very soon.

The courses topography with large sand bunkers made this a more challenging course to play. However, the wide fairways, make landing in the fairway more possible. The neighboring Blackhorse course which is served from the same clubhouse seemed to be a little harder to play than Bayonet. Bayonet has some of nicest views of Monterey Bay. The majestic Monterey Cypress trees line most of the holes. There are many new homes along several of the holes. A few are in construction. Because of the hillside facing the ocean be prepared for windy or overly windy conditions on many of the holes. Making it chilly even during the summer months. Actually a great escape from high temperatures that occur outside of the Monterey area.

No notice that greens are sanded. The rest of the course is in great shape.

Bayonet is a great course. Very well maintained. Great layout. Pace of play is also great. The golf pro shop is nicely stocked. The price charged for green fees is expensive.

Staff is top notch and course is close to pristine the only downside is there are zero ball washers on the golf course which is confusing and surprising I’ve never played a golf course with no ball washers especially a course that has an average cost over $100 a round during the week
