Black Horse at Bayonet/Black Horse Golf Course

One of my favorite courses. Very well maintained. Staff very friendly.

Great scenery in a beautiful part of the world... maintained like a municipal GC but an interesting and challenging layout. I will return.

Enjoy playing both Black Horse & Bayonet. Courses are always in good condition. About the best maintained public courses.

Play here many times. Always well kept. Fun to play. Challenging. This course will test your short game. Greens are harder than pebble. I would compare to spyglass hill. Highly recommended.

After 11 inches of rain in the last two weeks, We always know that we can count on Bayonet/Blackhorse for great golf. The entire facililty drains so well and the greens hold there firmness throughout winter.. Treat yourself to a great test of golf..

Everything was great except the Marshall he was a complete dick

Blackhorse is a challenging yet awesome track that is a definite must play if you are in the area! It is a great layout at a reasonable length (played blue tees 6500+) with some of the most undulated and fast and true greens I have ever played on. The course features picturesque views of the ocean, penninsula, and I also saw numerous wildlife during the round (deers, coyotes, rabbits, squirrels, hawks, etc.). Additionally, the conditions of the entire course were excellent and the pace of play on this particular day was ideal; I teed off at 11:40 and with hardly any waiting all round I was able to finish in well under 3.5 hrs. with a cart. Furthermore, for the conditions and layout of the course the rates are more than reasonable, and since I was able to book this round as a hotdeal for $60+ it was a no brainer. If you are in the area don’t pass on Blackhorse!

Bay on challenging, wll maintained golf course. Pace of play excellent.

Some days you ride the horse, other days the horse rides you. Today was the later.

Well kept course with good condition. Very nice view! Not easy to play.

Blackhorse is every bit as enjoyable and a great setting as the more notable course in the area. It is a beautiful setting and a fun course to play. The wide variety of holes and challenges come from the bunker placement and undulations on the greens. Given the price compared to the other courses, it should be at the top of your list.

The morning rain didnt seem to slow the greens very much, but did make them softer. Drainage was great so there were no issues with standing water, even considering heavy rains recently. This is a well designed course that forces you to play specific shots or face a stiff penalty. The beautiful backdrop of the Monterey bay helps ease the pain. Minus one star for the “friendliness” of the pro shop and lack of beverage cart.

Played this course a few times before. Today the course looked in rough shape, from tee boxes to fairways. Maybe due to dry CA conditions? The greens were rolling at a speed of 12, along with many undulations and cruel pin placements, making them incredibly challenging. Wish they would slow them down a bit. But still a fun course to play with some nice views of the bay. Unfortunately finished off the day with a terrible , dry steak sandwich (maybe due to dry CA conditions) at their restaurant.

Around 70 degrees, virtually no wind, under 4 hour round. Pin positions tough. Blackhorse is a quality course in many respects!

Course was in great shape. A few too many sand traps. Greens a bit fast for the slope of the greens.

Black Horse is for the lower handicap player.

Tough greens and approach shots are difficult. If you are out of position it will be a very long day.

Bring your A game otherwise you will struggle.
