Nice Views. Tough Greens.
I have played this course several times. Challenging short holes, false front greens. I perfer Oak Marsh, more of a traditional golf course. Well worth the money if booked off of golf now.
Beautiful Challenging Course
I would recommend anybody play this golf course. Very scenic with several holes running along the coastline in the dunes. it's a little shorter than the courses I am use to playing so I played from the tournament tees, which made for challenging tee shots and also a much more scenic vantage point. The course was very well-maintained with clean fairways and thick, yet playable rough. The greens were very small but friendly and kept your ball on them. I don't remember there being any false fronts or any of them being on a large crown.staff is friendly and the beverage cart passed us three times. It was hot, but all the water coolers full of cold water. very reasonable price for the caliber of the course.

Fun & Unique
A peculiar layout that is part resort course, part links course, and part marshland course, much like its sister course, Oak Marsh.
Difficulty challenges are balanced by its marked lack of length (only 6100 from the tips) and there is a premium on accuracy, so don't expect to just run this track over.
With 5 holes that you can see the ocean from, it provides a very unique experience for the regular hacker.
One warning, though, you don't return to t he clubhouse after 9 holes... in fact, you're quite a distance from it, so don't turn down that cart girl if you see her.
Mixed Bag
I should first start by saying this course is absolutely beautiful and has some amazing views!
When I first arrived and was making my way to check in I was greeted by a staff member who took my bag, put it on the cart and drove me to the front of the club house. When I went inside to check in, I was told that I did not have a tee time. I then produced my confirmation which I had printed out and then was told they would let me play.
I then went in search of the practice range (no directions were given) when I finally found it, there were quite a few people waiting because there are ONLY 8 PRACTICE TEES for 2 courses. what the ??? I was early, waited and still did not get a chance to warm up.
I then went to the person who I thought was the starter and was told how to get to the 1st tee box, it was quite a drive with NO signage until I was about half way.
The round started off well, however play was quickly reduced to a slow crawl. The marshal came around and asked how the pace was and I let him know that it was ridiculously slow. He went to the group in front of us, I thought he said something to them, but they kept piddling around. 3 1/2 hours to get through 7 holes. That's ridiculous. Anyway we came to a par 5 and the group ahead of us was on the green when we hit our second shots. As we approached, the group in front of us used profanity and threatened us. I don't take ---- from anyone! I gave it right back. They threatened us some more, I didn't back down and they moved on. Almost immediately the marshal came and asked us what happened. We told him what happened. He told us that they pay a lot of money to be members, so we kind of have to deal with it because we were "GOLFNOW" players. I explained that golf etiquette dictates that players should keep up with group in front of them. He did confirm that the there was a group 2 holes ahead of the "MEMBERS" in front of us. I told him that I was not going to take any more --- from the yahoos in front of us. He finally went and told them to get the lead out. It took 6.25 hours to finish 18.
The course.
The greens are like postage stamps. Being so small, I think they shouldn't have as many undulations as they do. I do need to work on my putting, but these greens are just stupid. There were also several holes where there is a canopy of trees just ahead of the tee box, requiring a lower than normal launch angle.
Bottom line, I have wanted to play here for a long time and now I have. I won't be playing there again. I no longer desire to play the Marsh course either. There are far too many nice courses in and around Jacksonville to waste my time or money on this place!
Ocean Links Course
Beautiful course, especially the beach holes. Staff was friendly and knowledgable.
Great views
One of the better "view" courses around this area. My only issue is that you never come back to the club house after 9, and there is only one beverage cart for both courses. So I takes awhile to get anything.
terrible pace of play
overall good conditions, but pace of play was terrible. Also there was too much going on the course too much staff on every hole with weedeaters and blowers
Good ocean views!
We really had a great time on this course. Greens in excellent condition! Sand traps well maintained. Overall good layout for a par 70 course. Loved the variety on Par 3s.
Ocean Links
Highly recommend this course. Nice shaded paths to get you out of the sun. Great ocean views on some of the holes. Great design
Wonderful Value for Oceanfront Golf
Took a break from the beach/pool while on family vacation to play a round with my 11 year old son & it was just a great experience from start to finish. We can see hole #4 from our Shipwatch Villas condo, which is just one of a handful of holes that run right along the Atlantic coastline. Remaining holes are spread out around the Amelia Island Plantation & offer a great variety of scenery + wildlife.
Course itself was in very good condition, particularly being July in Florida - not too long & fairly forgiving, other than a couple challenging holes. Staff was extremely friendly & accommodating + very nice club rentals for reasonable fee. Golfnow rate made it a tremendous value!
Some great holes but
Long traverses between groups of holes. Not a walking course! Paths are not well marke. Holes along ocean are completely different from remainder of course ;. Playability, greens holding ball, visibility from tee boxes different from remainder of course.. Ocean view very nice. Will do it again when the discount price is available .
Ocean/Oak Marsh review
We played a mixture of the 2 courses. Started on the Ocean course and we were not really impressed so at 8 we took a left and played 17 and 18 and then headed to the front 9 of the Oak Marsh course. Ocean course was OK, on 3 holes on the front actually have ocean views which was disappointing. Greens were in OK shape and were VERY slow. Course is very short so if you have any sort of distance off the tee I would not recommend this course. The Oak Marsh course from 9 was a little tougher then Ocean and the greens were in MUCH better shape but still a little slow for my liking but that is typical for Bermuda greens. very playable course which gives you more room off the tee to hit driver for the longer hitters. Make sure when you book a tee time to use this site or the costs skyrockets to $125. For the price I would highly recommend this place and would play it again just to see what the back 9 on Oak Marsh looks like.
Greens Not Good
Great course. This time the greens were not very good. Lots of hole left from them pluging the green a few weeks back. Very hard to keep the ball from not bouncing on the greens.
Will go back but will read reviews on when the greens get better.
Beautiful views, wonderful course!
Love the views on the ocean holes! Staff is great, although the restaurant service brought the rating down to 4 stars. Also, being the first time we played this course, we were really perplexed that there are no course maps or even plaques at the holes -- on a few, you are totally hitting blind. Overall, great course at a reasonable price, would highly recommend!
experience of a lifetime excellent day of golf
The course was in good I wouldn't say great shape. Greens were airreatted it looked like so some were slow others lightening fast. Greens had many undulations on them so i liked that. Breath taking views of the ocean on many holes. Six par threes on the ocean links course par 70 6100yds. A few first on this course. Never had back to back par 3s on a cousre before. Had to wait as beach goers crossed the fairway to and from hotel and beach on a few holes. Almost hit a few people on bikes as we made blind turns to next hole. That was a little unnerving to almost hit someone. But what a experience It was worth twice what I paid.
condition
I guess i set my expectations to high. I expected to be impressed and i wasn't. Course was in just ok shape. With greens in the shape they were in i was glad i did not have to pay full price.
We are sorry to learn that we did not meet your expectations! Please understand, we are experiencing our summer aerification process on both courses which requires some recovery time. Nice, but...
It's nice, but it is short and while the ocean views are nice, the beach goers walking across the fairways and hanging out near tee boxes was a bit much. One guy had his family loading a personal golf cart with gear next to the tee box as we were teeing off. No clue that they should not be there much less just keep quiet until we've teed off and moved on.
Great course & staff
Outstanding golf destination! Recommend that is you have a non-playing spouse let them ride along just for the beauty of the scenery and natural settings.
Premier course
Truly a gem. This is one of the nicest courses I have ever played. Course built on multi-billion dollar property with priceless views. Greens were perfect. Fairways were narrow. Rough was thick. Very challenging course and well worth the money.
