Legacy Golf Club

This use to be one of my favorite courses anywhere. But with the change of ownership the course has gone way down hill. Sounds lime there is another new buyer. But it will take a year to get the tee boxes and greens back. Too bad. Such a great tract.

The tees were poor; the greens had patches of different grass on them (although they ran fairly true) and occasional ones had holes in the surface (presumably made by herons?); the fairways were good. Staff were very friendly.
Overall we felt the course looked 'tired' and we came away somewhat disappointed.

The course is pretty well maintained for the most. The greens are quick. The only faults are the tee boxes need some TLC. Outside of that, it worth playing a HOT DEAL price at this time.

This is a great course. The first five holes are the toughest of any course in the area. Once past those 5 it's a very fun course. You have to plan your shots, but the course is forgiving if you miss your target. The greens are the best part of the course. I think they have the truest, most consistent greens of any course in the area. Play it in October for $35 and a hot dog and a drink. Can't beat the deal.

We have played many courses in the Sarasota, Bradenton and surrounding areas but for us this is one of the best. Pretty much each hole has its own challenges and are memorable whereas on some courses most holes appear pretty much the same. The current deal with the lunch and beer is really good value and the quality of the food is brilliant. A really good hot dog or toasted ham and cheese along with all the trimming including an extremely nice chilli to go with it.
All the staff are very friendly and helpful.
We are going back for a couple of more rounds.

It's a shame the course has been neglected.
Tee boxes almost all 30-40% bare with no grass and a lot of weeds. Greens had bare spots in some cases and looks like another type of grass (weeds) were starting to infest itself in places. Bunkering very poor it waste areas,
A real shame as the layout is very nice. I would play it again if the conditions were even close to a good public golf course

Great course with challenging holes . Staff very friendly and the golf was great value for money. Would highly recommend anyone to play here.
PS The hotdog at the turn was very tasty!

Nice layout, tee boxes need some work. Greens are fast. Course is a little damp. But over all had a good time.

Best I've played in the area so far. Only played Soneybrook & River Strand for comparison.

A couple of greens needed a bit of work, otherwise the course was in great shape.

We play this course a lot. It's always in great shape. It is summer now and rainy, so it's a little stressed from the summer. That is not typical of the course and I still recommend to play the course. At the time the price is great and it's a great value. You won't be disappointed for a summer value.

Before I say anything bad about this course, I first want to say that the course has a gorgeous layout and only a few greens weren't in good condition. The tee boxes were the worst part. Now onto the bad things; first of all the starter/cart guy takes his job way to seriously and in my opinion was rude. I told him I was there early to practice and he started to make sure that I was going to buy balls and not hit the "members balls". He also treated me like I was stupid and wouldn't let me hit on the range where there was grass because that's the members area, so I barely had any grass. I mostly hit sand shots. Now the biggest issue and I hope this course sees this because my group which included an pro on a mini tour were extremely angry. During our round, they were spraying pesticide or fertilizer. The guy doing it had a full body suit on and face mask, but we had a golf towel to cover our noses. My eyes and nose burned and it is impossible to play your shots when you can smell something to strong and that actually hurts you. I thought this was terrible customer service because it should be done in the evening and not when golfers are out on the course. I've never had this happen and I play once a week usually trying different courses.

I had been wanting to play this course for over a year. Looking at the pics of the course online and knowing it was an Arnold Palmer design had me salivating. The price of the green fees was always way too high for my budget though. So when I saw it advertised on Golfnow.com for a very reasonable rate, I booked it immediately. Unfortunately the round did not live up to expectations. The greens were aerated two weeks prior to our round, but I knew that coming in. They should've been way better healed after 2 weeks than they were...so they were uber slow and very bumpy. The driving range looks like a disaster with dirt greens around the pins and dead grass everywhere. No biggie, I don't care where my range balls fall. The course itself was the big disappointment. Every tee box was yellow with dead grass, like they had sprayed weed killer over every one. Fairways were in fair condition, but had sprigs of weeds growing in them; some 12 inches long. The rough was rough! They have let St. Augustine grass infiltrate the Bermuda grass and it has taken over big time. Try chopping out of 4-6 inches of St. Augustine just 10 feet from the green. The greens had small mushrooms growing in them! They resembled small white rocks. You had to remove them from your putting line before putting. I even saw greens with fire ant hills in them! Fire ants everywhere. If Arnold came back and saw this course today, he'd kick the superintendent right in the rear end! Beautiful layout and very challenging with many risk/reward holes. But the course conditions will cost you strokes. Very frustrating.

This course was in fantastic condition and was very challenging. I would definately reccomend this to any seasoned golfer. Not a place for beginners at all.

Decent layout but the greens were terrible the tee boxes were even worse! Fairways were the only positive out here. Tee boxes are all unkept with just dirt and weeds. We played the golds. If you enjoy hitting tee shots off dirt and 2 inch long weeds/grass then play here!

We enjoyed our round despite the waterlogged conditions (it had been raining in Sarasota for a long time) and the very hot humid day. (Par for the course in Sarasota in the summer). We had obtained an extremely low rate on GolfNow ($19 per player). We found the course to be challenging on many holes, and there was a nice variety of terrain. The pace of play was very fast (probably because there were few players due to the heat and saturated terrain). The course was spread-out and picturesque. We look forward to playing there again when it has dried out.

I decided to stop playing after 7 holes as lighting is right on top of us, don't understand why the course don't sound alarm and why all so many people still play .... The course is good and the staffs of GolfNow is great helping me.
