Still One of the Places to Play!

On more than one occasion I have dragged a reluctant playing partner to Black Bear, even though they objected to the almost 2 hr. ride. They objected no more once they got a chance to play and now have bugged me to go back. Black Bear is one of the most "non-typical" Florida courses you can find with hills and a great layout. If you want great conditions and a challenging course I highly recommend BB and am already fielding calls from friends who I haven't taken yet. Great job!

Good shape after a rain

The course is in good shape. The greens were ok, but not fast. The bunkers were either wet or hard, but it rained a lot in the last couple of days. Still a nice course, hilly and challenging

Too much

Too much walking from cart paths to greens, green side bunkers, apron areas, very undulated and it certainly wasn’t to maintain a manicured appearance, because it was just in average condition. Also staff tried to push us along because a twosome behind complained. There was zero substance to the complaint. Based on the score card they expect a round to be played in 4 hours and 12 minutes, our foursome finished the round in 3 hours and 58 minutes AND we had one walker. Too many other courses to bother with this one ever again!

Black Bear experience

Have played this course several times throughout the fall and winter months and it remains to be in excellent condition, one of the best in the area. Has lots of good healthy grass on fairways and greens, which putt very nicely.
