South/North at Fernandina Beach Golf Club
About
South/North is one of three golf courses at Fernandina Beach Golf Club. The facility is home to three distinct nines that form three different 18-hole combinations. Winding through thick forests of oaks and pines, Fernandina Beach Golf Club's South/North course offers a glimpse at native Florida wildlife. The South nine depends more on accuracy rather than distance while the north nine, the shortest in length of the three, features undulating greens. Water hazards also come into play throughout the golf course. Fernandina Beach's 27 unique holes are made even more appealing by the affordable rates and convenient proximity to Jacksonville and the beach.

A Sad Muni
Has the potential to be a good municipal course but little or no money goes back into matainance. Managed by “non golfers “
Getting better
North Course was in nice shape. South fairways are still in poor condition.
Need top soil and a plan to rehab on a hole by hole basis. Layout is great.
Need topsoil and grass planted to recover the South Course.
Fast greens, but no grass on the fairways
They had nice, fast greens, but that's it. The course was dirt and weeds. A lot of the tee boxes were uneven, and had little to no grass
Okay course priced right - course needs a lot of tlc
Nice layout and staff are welcoming and friendly. It was only $29 but you get why you pay for.
Needs Help
This course has really gone downhill. What used to be a cheaper, OK course has really fallen apart. Tee boxes are uneven as they come. Fairways have tons of mud, more than they have grass. Cart paths are rough, really rough. Carts do not run well.
Course need water!
Fairways on the south course need water and attention.
Better conditions on the West 9.
Good value but course needs work - south better than north
For $30 it was just fine- had a fun back nine but it was slow
USED TO BE A GOOD COURSE FOR THE MONEY UNTIL THEY RAISED THEIR RATES
I love the 27 hole design; however, the management company has not done a very good job of fixing the glaring issues with course maintenance nor has the city of Fernandina Beach with funding. The new
60 dollar rate is ridiculous for the condition of the North, West and South courses.. Most fairways are missing grass in a majority of the holes and omg the greens; go ahead and add a stroke to how bad they actually are with all the dead, missing or weeded grass. Keep your 60 and go to the river or north Hampton.
Dont bother
Registered as single. Group i was matched with wanted to play without 4th, starter let them? I had to wait two more groups. Round took over 5 hours and 20 minutes. I watched two groups in front of us, too many should not have been on a course, couldn't advance the ball. No ranger to move groups along.
Course was in awful shape. Thankfully the weather was great. I canceled my Sunday t time. A very unpleasant experience.
In need of some care
The winter has been hard on this course. The fairways are mostly dirt with some grass. The rough is mostly weeds. Looks like they are working on the South nine, but it’s going to take some time. It’s owned by the city, so they probably don’t have a big enough budget to care for it adequately. The greens were pretty good though.
Ruff conditions
Currently in the worse condition that I have seen it in. There are areas roped of to try to grow grass
Fernandina Beach Escape
This is the second time my wife and I have played this course and have enjoyed it very much both times.
Take a PASS
In my 40+ years of playing this game I have never come across a golf course in worse condition. In such a warm climate one would naturally question how the grass could be so thin as to cause u to roll your ball to find a thin patch of grass. The first cut of rough was a continuous mat of overlapping weeds that resemble miniature "Lilly pads". Not being from this area I could not identify this weed but it has no purpose of being on a golf course. Why would the owners not keep this golf course in better conditions commensurate to the upscale resort area is the question you have to ask. Horrible.
